Vandermeer is like Josh Innes; he gets worse with each additional day he's permitted to be on air.

And that Texans Radio orgy he puts on with his heroes is the most unlistenable drivel on air today.

Yeah, that guy's voice sickens me. Of course, the Rockets rhyming fool, Joel Blank, is horrible also and Ackerman is just bad.

    Whatcha gonna do?

I really enjoyed listening to his play by play when his boy Schuab would throw a pick 6.

    He is a tool.
All he talked about was the University of Miami football team for the first 5-6 years with the Texans. Odd thing is that he was critical of the draft of AJ, claiming he wasn't work a high #1.... Yet he loved Carr, Shaub and Kubiak.

    He just sucks.

I enjoy him calling games, don't listen to him outside of that.

Watching Houston 93 last night reminded me of how much I loved Tom Franklin calling the Oiler games. I was hoping they would bring him back when we were awarded another team.

    And Bum....God rest his soul....Bum.....

Franklin: Bum, it looks like the defensive backs are playing 5 yards deep and giving the receivers a big cushion at the line of scrimmage. I would think calling a few quick slants would make them come up to the line more and then you can try your hand at throwing over the top for a big play or 2. What do you think?

    Bum: Yep...

    (awkward silence)

Franklin: Okay, back to the game...2nd down and 10 on the 45 yard line....

Franklin was great. Since not every Oilers game was sold out, there was much more radio listening of football back in the day (pre-internet, pre-sunday ticket, pre-red zone, pre-fantasy).

I got chills whenever I stumbled upon a UH game when he was doing the radio for... definitely a voice that is etched in my memory (regardless if they were good or bad memories).

    He is legitimately terrible.

As if "Rock and Roll" wasn't bad enough, he has no skill as a play by play announcer. He has a lot of trouble describing what is on the field. He basically just say, "(insert quarterback) throws a completion to andre....." He has little emotion and is very bland. Definitely doesn't paint a picture for the audience

Craig Ackerman on the other hand is PHENOMENAL. So emotional and a true fan, also not afraid of offending people like vandy. No one can replace jim and gene, but Ackerman has done admirably

I'm not a big fan, but I don't hate the guy.

Initially I couldn't tell Charlie Palillo and Vandermeer apart. I was always surprised that such a fat town as Houston had two prominent announcers/commentators with rather high voices, who were themselves small skinny men.

Everytime I hear someone railing against their voices now I feel like it is because of this reason, because they are different. If that means that I'm calling you fat for hating Vandermeer, then maybe I am.

Incidentally, Vandermeer is a really good guitar player.

Where does 'replacing Marc Vandermeer' and 'replacing John McClain' fall on the Texans to-do list? :p

I guess I'm in the minority. I listen to him and Andre instead of the TV guys.

I really hate how Vandermeer is so involved at 610AM and is constantly on there doing damage-control for the franchise.

Why the HELL would trust a guy who gets his checks cut by Bob McNair to give you insight and critical opinions of the team?
