It's a case of believe what you want to believe, because these guys won't reveal their sources...but everybody in their respective communities believes them. I liken it to why one would believe an insider here...cyberx is a good example I choose to believe
My take: Mack Brown will definitely resign. As far as Saban goes, I'm on the fence. I think an extension with 'Bama is still possible. I also don't know what to make about Powers.
I don't really think much of this is his doing. I can't wait to see what he does with basketball though. That hire will have his fingers all over it
He'll have a lot more leeway with that hire. For all of the chatter about Mack, it's understood that football pays the bills and opens doors at UT. Rick Barnes has much more cause to be concerned with the awful recruiting he's done, the non-competitive nature of the last couple of years, not advancing past the second round of the NCAA tournament with Kevin Durant, etc. Texas could be a good basketball school given the talent that comes out of this state. Barnes has failed at leveraging that talent. But, first things first: let's get Saban.

More sources. http://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/1sljtl/saban_to_texas_is_a_lock_according_to_friend_very/ Saban to Texas is a LOCK according to friend very close to the situation. Here's how it will unfold: Won't divulge source but it's happening. Mack will retire Thursday. Friday and the weekend will be used to honor Mack on the Longhorns Network/ESPN, followed by Saban's announcement as head coach 10 AM Monday morning. The interesting question is, who takes over for Saban? Have no connections to the program, but what about Smart?
I was going to ask how much younger saban is then Mack brown. And they were born the same year and are both 62!! Saban could have a drop off soon as well.
Chip Brown: Texas is hoping there is a chance there (for Saban). Texas will aim high. A coach who has won a national championhip or super bowl. Saban is at the top of the list. Urban Meyer probably second. Maybe Mike Tomlin could be approached and then guys like David Shaw and Jim Harbaugh. Texas is aiming really high. No offer made to Saban, I can tell you that. Powers would never let anything happen until they resolve things with Mack Brown. ... I don't think Texas will come off $7 mil. If $7 mil isn't good enough, they'll move on.
