Would rather have his younger brother, Zyler Zeller. We could have nicknamed him ZZ top.

Lamb looks like a decent role player, and Jones looks like a stud. 2 out of 3 is not bad at all. Any GM would kill to have those kinds of returns on their draft picks. With Davis and Kidd Gilchrist out, both Lamb and Jones could be starters in the Rookie Sophmore game this year.

2012 Draft Sophomore team: (as of today)

    PG: Lillard, Wroten
    SG: Beal, Lamb
    SF: Barnes, Harkless
    PF: Jones, Sullinger, Plumlee
    C: Drummond, Henson

And 4 other guys that dont deserve to make it. Probably Rivers, Robinson, Waiters, & Ross

Given the fact that ony 3 of these players are starters on a playoff worthy team, and only 7 of them are starters on any NBA teams, I'd say that Morey did GREAT in this draft to even get one of the 3 players that are actually starting on good solid playoff teams.

Tjones looks amazing. Getting a legit starter from the draft isn't always a given, so be thankful for what you've got.

What? Thought we only draft twice that year. Who is this number 16 pick? Moist White, sounds like a bum who is living off of disability benefits.

I chose no. They could have gotten so much more talent in that draft other than Jones, who i had been saying was way underrated in that draft.
    Our team could have been:
    Omer Asik/John Henson/Greg Smith
    Terrence Jones/D-Mo/Greg Smith
    Parsons/Jeff Taylor
    Lin/Taylor/FA?
    Bev/Brooks/FA?
You can't tell me that's not a good team. Especially with all those guys coming back as second year vets.

That really depends on how you evaluate it.

If you evaluate it from a high risk-high reward point of view, where the Rockets had no star and was trying to land one with a mid 1st rounder, then hitting 2 out of 3 should be considered a win.

If you were in a position like the Thunder or Spurs, then using a 16th pick on White would be a massive waste, and Jones would not make up for it.

Considering the circumstances, even though Morey failed the pick, the logic behind it was sensible. You can't go for okay-but-not-great players when you don't have a star, you have to go for homeruns.

And RV6, it wasn't anything personal, this is just one of my pet peeves.

I'll give an (somewhat extreme) example why these bug me:

Let's say the Rockets have a 16th pick every year for ten years.
Every year we draft a player who has 10% chance of becoming Lebron James.
That same player has also 90% chance of becoming a total bust, aka Royce White.

Should we still draft him? Abso-****ing-lutely!

Are we going to look dumb as **** for the next ten years (and beyond)? Yes, that's exactly what we will look like and most likely the GM would have been fired long ago if we didn't hit the jackpot in the first years. And yet he made the overwhelmingly correct decision.

Not any more. Not after he robbed Leslie in broad daylight.

Since Clyde became a hall of famer, did that make up for the Blazers not drafting MJ. I don't think so. Or what about Pistons taking Darco over Melo cause they had Prince and they won a championship. There are hits and misses when drafting. You can draft high and miss or draft low and hit, but imo each draft pick is its own.

it was his biggest draft epic fail, but he was properly hedged with Lamb & Jones, so meh.

Mistake. White was a mistake but that always happens to teams on the day of the Draft. You never know what you're going to get.

ummm.... or Maybe the Rockets take Henson with the 12th pick and the Thunder hate the idea of bringing in a young skinny big, and instead do the deal with the Wizards for Beal since they needed a replacement for Harden whom they were trading to the Rockets.

Taking Lamb first was no mistake.

Sure you could have taken Jones ahead in Royce's spot and taken Taylor after with the 18th pick, but you can't win them all. I like Taylor alot but lets not get carried away here. He's a decent role player at best, but I'm sure he'll get plucked off by a competitor at some point much like Battier got plucked off of the Grizzlies.

Nearly 70% have voted yes, so far. I'm surprised it's not closer.

I don't take it personally. One strong post deserves another.

You can't really depend on one particular gamble or pick to tell you a whole lot... but when you look at all the picks made at that time, TJones makes it all worthwhile.

Terence Jones is super talented, but he's not self-reliant yet. He needs Parsons out there to facilitate for him, or he'll have a mediocre game.

I know there isn't another Rockets game until Thursday, but do we have to discuss Royce White (again) in the interim?

While Jones has looked good for a very limited time, he could flame out tomorrow.

As far as drafting decisions, you can only fairly look at what was known on draft night. White had a lot of hidden baggage and I am not sure I can blame Morey entirely for leaving his ring of X-ray Vision and his Helm of Truth Seeing at home that day.

Some draftees work out, some don't.
