Could you beat the Heat or Pacers with an all star team with players from the other 13 teams?

Charles Barkley thinks you could not.

PG Kyrie Irving / John Wall
SG Arron Afflalo / Evan Turner
SF Carmelo Anthony / Josh Smith
PF Greg Monroe / Paul Millsap
C Al Horford / Andre Drummond

I think that team beats the Pacers but not the Heat.

    Thoughts?

Interesting question, and Wall should probably be starting over Kyrie imo, but I think both the Heat and Pacers would be this team in a 7 game series.

    I think you can -

    John Wall
    Arron Afflalo
    Luol Deng
    Al Horford
    Joakim Noah

with Brook Lopez/Andre Drummond, Josh Smith, Brandon Jennings, Nene, Bradley Beal

The fact that it is even close is insane.

If they had a good coach they would win. There would just be too much depth on the all star team.

I think in a long series the Heat/Pacers would lose given the bench strength of our hypothetical opponent.

It's funny if you try this in the West with even the top 4 teams -

The lineup they would face would be something like -

    Steph Curry
    James Harden
    Andre Iguodala
    Kevin Love
    Dwight Howard

with Ty Lawson, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, Dirk Nowitzki, DeMarcus Cousins off the bench. Marc Gasol and Anthony Davis there too.

What do you mean by the other 13 teams? I am going to assume worst record and conference (Detroit worse than Minny regardless of better record). Yes, easily.

    Wall/Thomas
    Afflalo/Carter Williams
    Anthony/Millsap
Drummond/Horford (Horford closes out games if they hack Drummond)
    Lopez/Cousins (kill them with size)

Replace Lopez with Jefferson if he's not part of it. If I get 3 more to fill out the roster then I will go with Jefferson, Vucevic, and Irving.

    In a do-or-die game, no.

In a series, yes - Lebron and Wade/George and Hibbert would have to play 48 minutes a game to have any chance against that ridiculous bench.

OP means every other team in the EAST besides Miami and Indy.

That being said, I think this "All-Star" team has a huge advantage down low and at PG which might be too much for the Pacers (even with Hibbert) or Heat to overcome.

Okay, I get it now. 13 other east teams.

    Here is my roster:

    Wall/MCW
    Afflalo/Crawford
    Anthony/Millsap
Drummond/Horford (Horford closes out games if they hack Drummond)
    Lopez/Jefferson

    Reserves: Vucevic, Iving, Bynum

Don't even need Henson or Hawes.

I'd go with a rotation of

    g Wall / Kyrie
    g Afflalo / Jimmy Butler
    f Deng / Jimmy Butler
    f Melo / Horford
    c Drummond / Horford

Yes, I think that should beat both of those teams, given time to mesh.

The Rockets could beat both of those teams when healthy. Sorry. That is all that matters. CB pushes the limits of credulity and then laughs about it. About you.

My gut response was "He is clearly missing a bunch of other allstars" but I can't really find any huge gaps... man East is sooo weak..

Is the east really that bad this season?

Anyway, in a 7 game series, I still take the all stars. Melo will win 1 game, Wall will win another. The bigs will win 1 more. And just the overall strength of the bench will win a 4th game.

Number 8 seed bulls would have the 14th best record in West.

It would be a lot easier if you didn't have to pick fan voted allstars, so you could make a better "team" - especially if you wanted to make a front court to crush Miami.

    Alright. I'm going big.

PG: Lowry, Kyrie (Wow, there just aren't any great PGs out east. Kyrie & Wall aren't great yet.)
    SG: Afflao, Butler
    SF: Melo, Deng
    PF: Horford, Gibson
    C: Noah, Drummond

If Kyrie and Melo shared the ball, i think they could take the Heat or pacers. It'd be tight though.
