i like Shumpert but he is not enough value for Asik IMO. He would be the back up behind Harden we need though thats for sure.

yeah I'm with you we asik is more value than just him. So we will see what happens. I would love to get a back up center, vet PF to start or come off bench, & #1 a high energy defensive minded SG with some height

Curious if anyone thinks OKC would be better with Asik at the 5 and TJones at the 4 as opposed to Ibalka at the 4 and no one at the 5?

Is Asik/TJones for Ibalka a deal either Houston or OKC would consider seriously?

I'm thinking both teams might actually be better after a deal like that.

    Westbrook
    Sefalosha
    KD
    TJones
    Asik

    Beverley
    Harden
    CP25
    Ibalka
    D12

I think that's something that the Thunder would seriously consider as it allows them to Amnesty or trade Perkins. This gives them more roster flexibility, makes them younger, and improves their defense.

That said, I doubt Houston would do that trade as it makes OKC even *harder* to beat and possibly makes OKC the odds on favorite to come out of the West.

It's a similar reason to why Houston would be reluctant to trade Asik to Miami. It addresses one of their few weaknesses and makes them even more of a favorite to win the title.

On the other hand, it does give us some serious juice come 2016 in the Kevin Durant free agency sweepstakes assuming we can clear the cap space... :p

Can't imagine OKC ever giving us Ibaka. If we won that trade their fan base would destroy them up there.

Can't imagine us giving OKC Asik either. Asik is a big enough difference maker that it could put them over the top. If they won a ring(s) with Asik in the middle and went through us to get it....that would be very bad on this franchise.

Just don't see it happening. But as a basketball guy...I'd do the trade from our perspective. I think Ibaka would put us at the top, get us in the Finals and have us right there in a toss-up with Miami/Indiana in a 7-game series.

Shumpert is the third most valuable trade assets behind Melo and Chandler. With no picks to trade in the foreseeable future, he is the ONLY option Knicks have if they want to upgrade their roster. In the scale of Rockets, he is probably ranked 7th - 8th in trade value. This is why he is severely overrated by Knicks fans. Don't fall for the hype of Dolan's media propaganda machine and their fans.

Rockets have the best center and SG in the league. The main pieces are there already. The best option, if Morey cant acquire 3rd star or favorable picks with Asik, is to surround Harden and Dwight with players who perform above their value. If there is a position Morey can upgrade without sacrificing flexibility, then it should be done.

Millsap just entered into his prime. Trading 15 min of Asik for 32 min of Millsap is an upgrade. Their salaries match and with Millsap's two-year contract, we don't lose any flexibility. If he isn't the missing piece, we can look forward to 2015 free agency with him and Lin off the book.

It looks like Kyrie had checked out this season. Cavs probably need to either make a major overhaul or trade him.

    If they choose latter,

    Asik + Lin + Parsons + pick(s) for Bynum (team option 2014) + Kyrie

We are going to lose Asik anyway. In reality, it's Lin + Parsons + picks for Kyrie and Bynum expiration. I seriously doubt Cavs will take anything less than that.

I know both Kyrie and Harden are below average defenders but by sharing the offensive duties, their defense will improve. With Kyrie, we have our third star and a young one too!

I'm for millsapp starting & jones coming off the bench we would be deep at the 4, I think casspi can actually be a good wing defender like he was with the kings when he played the 3, he just has been playing the 4 here

My question is would ATL give him up since they he is helping them win, just like Ryan Anderson with the pelicans now?

2nd question who would play back up center ?

If Morey is indeed looking for lottery pick, then there are only a limited number of teams that (1) have the potential high pick and (2) need Asik.

You can scratch rebuilding teams because you don't rebuild with a guy like Asik. Only contending teams or teams that just need a good center to push them over the top. So we are looking at good teams that hold an unprotected pick of a crappy team.

Unless... of course, there's a third team involved.

I believe they will do it.

Hawks will always be on the bottom of the league in rebounding without a true center. Horford is an undersized center whose natural position is PF. He is also the cornerstone of their future who was vocal with his displeasure playing center. If there is an opportunity to make him happy, Asik is as good as it can be.

Horford wants to prolong his career and who can blame him for not wanting to bang with other bigs. If Horford finds out that Asik was offered without taking the deal, it can get real ugly for Ferry.

I think there is no way Cleveland let's go of their best and only marketable player right now, but even if they did he's probably not the best complement to Harden, and in many ways adds duplication to Harden.

You'd still have a ton of moves to make and little cap flexibility left to do it. Probably more of a recipe to be the next New York Knicks than the next Heat because the pieces don't fit and there are few ways to fix it by bringing in the right complementary pieces.

Does anyone think a trade along the lines of:

    Mozgov, Randolph, 2014 1st rounder
    for
    Asik, and 2 2nd rounders

be enticing for the Nuggets to take? At this point I doubt anyone wants to get rid of the 2014 first rounder but Denver truly believe they are a playoff team but I think they're going to fall short just because the West is stacked.

Nah I think Jones has Ibaka like potential... I think that this year and definitely in two years they would win that trade 10 times over.

I really have a strong feeling our trade partner in some way shape or form is going to be Milwaukee. Maybe Pachulia and a draft pick or Ilyasova and a draft pick for Asik and a Motis...?

seems inefficient to trade for Millsap when he was a free agent this summer. I realize the timing didnt line up but I'm just saying
