Let's look at this from a perspective for a man. Which is more beneficial/important in the long run? Being physically or mentally tough?

I would choose both if there is a third option.

It seems that life throws you a lot more crap where mental toughness is an issue than physical toughness. First World Issues.

All my physical accomplishments would be nothing if not for mental toughness.

example. I remember running my first marathon. After losing my partners around the 13 mile mark and running in a cold rainy December morning, all I wanted to do was quit. Just quit and have a cigarette. It took everything I had mentally to finish that race.

But I've been on the weak side physically so I need a lot more mental strength to finish events.

I understand what you are saying but I figure that mental toughness is just as important for non first world problems. I feel that I am pretty mentally tough but think about the people that survive in less developed regions of the world or how people settled the new world and realize that I'm most likely a pretty big p***y. I would like to think that I would step up if I had to do so but you never really know until you are in that situation.

    Mental, hands down.

Mentally weak guys are more likely to have difficulty in everything from dating/relationships to job & career opportunities. Very few people like and/or respect p*****s.

I am pretty fit but I would say mental toughness by a long shot.

Physical tuff at peak with mental weakness=iron Mike Tyson in his wild days. Extreme polar opposites of each side. I personally choose mental toughness.

I don't think you can achieve physical toughness without having the mental fortitude first.

Hmm, I wonder which comes first. Chicken or the egg debate. Which one would you need more of to make it through military boot camp.

You can't have the first without the second.

Keeping physically fit is important but sooner or later your body will begin breaking down and wearing out. Mental tenacity however will stay with you until the bitter end.

Physical Toughness, because that's what 300 taught me.

If you're not mentally strong you will never succeed in ANY physically demanding situation.

That's true. Case in point--Royce White. His athleticism is useless without fortitude.
