Dude go watch the 1st quarter when Jones was running Millsap around and beating him off the dribble. Jones is a second year rookie averaging 15-10 as a starter with a ton of upside and a perfect fit for our system.

Paul Millsap is one hell of a player, good beyond his stats. The key to this would be how Jones handles going back to the bench, and more importantly is he can be the backup C. He seems pretty hungry so I don't really worry about his attitude too much. A frontcourt rotation of Howard/Millsap/Jones/Casspi/Parsons would be the best in basketball, easily. We would need to add a true C for situations, but I think it could work. And Millsap has an extremely friendly contract.
I can't wait 'til we get more of the right pieces as the team molds in to an unstoppable force. Trading Asik should be a step in the right direction (considering he'll keep whining). If we can snag a lotto pick(s), I think Morey can turn that in to a lot.
Now you are truly showing your bias. Jones, as a starter, averaged 12.5/8.2. Keep moving the goal posts? First Jones 'tore him apart.' Now it's only 1st quarter? The fact remains that Jones who is starting in his first year is not expected to perform at above average level at PF position. It's a tough position with a huge talent pool. It's not a knock on him but even players with upside need on-court experience and offseason workouts to improve upon his weaknesses. Millsap does all the little things that do not show up on most of the stats. His court awareness is superb. He became this way mainly due to his....on-court experience and offseason improvements.
Let's see mill sap is averaging just over more points as a starter while taking three more shots with an inferior shooting percentage from both the field and three point line and less rebounds and less block shots. He also makes a lot more money
If jones ca n do this essentially as a rookie, the guy will be a legit 17-9 player in a few seasons. Jones has more upside and is cheape r. MOrey needs to get a backup for Howard and a wing defender
One first round pick and a bench player for asik. You guys know what happens when Morey trades for bench players. I was one of the few who believed Garcia was the main piece in the Kings trade last year. Also going for cap room flexibility wouldn't hurt us as much as it would be to acquire another ball demanding star.
Jeff Green and the C's 1st would be a dream scenario. I don't see the C's giving up their 1st though.
I quit watching the highlights after about half way through because they don't really show what our defense needs. We have several players that play really good "ON THE BALL" defense. What I'm more interested in is how he play's when other teams are passing the ball around the court, or running players off screens to get open. All that other stuff is great but it shows me nothing about how he will perform against a team like San Antonio or LAC that does not pound the ball into the ground. I like Shumpert but I don't really know if he is this great defensive assassin that it's claimed he is.
Marion makes the most sense in any trade possibility that we have for Asik. Marion is a veteran and NBA champion who can defend almost anyone including 4's while providing a multi-functional role to the team as well as locker room leadership, which is something this team sorely lacks. Marion can defend ANY position on the floor, but does particularly well on the 3's and 4's. His offense is serviceable, but still much better than Asik. Marion is the missing piece from this team. I only hope that Cuban and the Mavs are really as high on Asik as they say they are. Millsap is a great player, and I hear many clutchfans suggest that he is the missing piece. But he's not. Aquiring Millsap simply brings more offense to a team that doesn't need it. Rockets don't have problems scoring the ball. Our two biggest weakness are leadership and defensive play. Marion solves both of those problems.
Milsap doesn't play defense! We don't need offense, we need to trade for a defensive minded player. If NY had a 1rd pick im sure Shumpert would have been a option.
Marion's also old and expensive. Honestly can everyone stop fantasizing about PFs already, DMo and Tjones are good enough to handle the PF spot, hell even Greg Smith, Parsons and Garcia can all play PF. Look at how badly our team played when Parsons is out and Harden doesn't put out effort (likely due to injury). What we need is a good backup C and good backup perimeter players when Parsons/Harden are down or aren't performing up to snuff. Asik for Len and Dragic or Asik for Courtney Lee+ a pick seems like good trades IMHO. Both Dragic and Lee cost a lot but can play all 3 perimeter positions decently, giving us that "starter-as-backup" depth we have been enjoying with Asik.
Paul Millsap is a very good defensive player, he's a Chuck Hayes style no stats defensive stud. He's more valuable defensively than he is offensively.
yeah those were "highlights" but I understand what you're saying. He hates to get screened, will fight over his screen push do whatever, he got in a argument with melo recently in a huddle because of "team defense" he don't care who you are, and we don't have a high a high energy SG going in dunking here, those kind of plays hype of the crowd & can be a game changer. 5-7 from 3 against nets other day so he would fit our system. -dunk last night Iman Shumpert http://t.co/0tCc28eDKA via @youtube - Shumpert Rips Into Melo After Bad Defense http://t.co/IuQMX54Ijj
