I agree with Bill and Jalen. Asik's trade value has plummeted. I think we'll be lucky to get someone like a Millsap at this point.
Listened to that earlier and completely disagreed. Knee jerk GMs might think so and I don't doubt that some GMs will try to use this in their favor in trade discussions, but anyone who really paid attention to what he did last year will easily see past what turned out to be a very minor thing. Players like Asik are not easy to come by. I doubt his trade value has changed much at all.
Two unprotected first rounders from a team in the process of rebuilding seems like the perfect trade to me...Philly - New Orleans - Cleveland-esque teams.
I should have said a team building around a young core. One that believes they have future all-stars but needs a 5.
Given the current record, it looks like Chicago will need act soon. How about Asik to Boozer? Would be nice for us.
You can compete with a lottery pick on your team. Why do you cash out that lottery pick? Is there a rule written that a championship contending team should not keep lottery picks? This could be a Pistons-like situation, except hopefully no Darko picks. A proven star with a big contract killing your flexibility? Or do you keep the young stud on a cheap deal as a rotational player? Harrison Barnes and Kawhi didn't help win a championship, but both played big roles for their teams in the playoffs. If we do go get a lottery pick, we have the chance to have a dominant present + dominant future. Our alternative is yes, trading, perhaps Lin + that pick for a true star.
Not sure how any non-homer knowledgeable NBA follower could say he's NOT an upgrade. Now value... beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but right now TJ doesn't have anything close to the value of a Paul Milsap ON THE COURT... HOWEVER, if TJ shows that he can be as amazing as he was his first 5 games as a starter for a sustained period of time, his value could rise over Milsap as more of an "up and comer" on a rookie contract type of player. Those players can be more appealing to certain teams depending on what their goals are. However, these stats, the Rockets could only dream that TJ ever reaches- http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/millspa01.html#advanced::none Milsap is very, very productive player. TJ.... he's still a prospect. Give me Milsap any day of the week. (However you should NOT give up TJ in a Milsap deal if you do not have to... which you should not since the Rockets can substitute assets like 1st round picks instead in a deal)

If its true Morey is trying for 1st's back in a Asik trade, doesn't that indicate that he is stacking liquid assets for some later, possibly bigger fish?
a trade package from phoenix makes more sense. win now but flexibilty for change later. plumlee four 2014 1st round draft picks tucker dragic frye , expiring next season plumlee is a keeper as a backup but the others would make fantastic trade pieces to flip later. the prizes to eye later on would be aldridge or the greek freak.
