Another instance where I saw bad coaching was an inbounds play on the baseline at a key stretch in the game where Rudy called a timeout and the best play he could come up with was to get KT the ball at the top of the key where he preceded to airball a 3. Our small forwards didnt show up at all tonight, Walt hit a couple at the end but it was too late

My question is: Where in Holy Hell was Hakeem in the last few minutes. I'm sure Damon would have had far fewer layups if Hakeem had been in there.

the reason hakeem wasnt in was because carlos is a great offensive rebounder and the rockets needed to score at the time and they wanted to have a chance at 2nd chance points and carlos provided. Carlos earned his minutes

mo Taylor started off well, but he didnt get to play too much. I think if they gave Taylor some more pt alongside Carlos, he woulda had some more opportunities to score.

I wanted to know the same thing. Where was Los. Actually for quite a few games I have questioned some of Rudy T's coaching decisions. I used to defend him and say he was a great coach when arguing with my boys but now I am starting to wonder. I know its too early to call for his head but you know who I would like to see coach our team? John Thompson. He is a smart coach and he could get our big guys in shape. Oh well I know it is a pipe dream.

I really think MoT and Hakeem should have played more. Both had decent shooting % and deserved the minutes. I think playing Los at the end was a mistake,,,he should have pulled him out at the 5 min mark

I don't know why Matt Bullard is playing so much. He is just standing there or running around with his hands up as his way of playing defense. Is his shooting so good that we can afford to trade it for 5 on 4 defense? Just my opinion.

Excellent point Actsao. Bullard has not been hitting the 3 as well as last year. He should not be playing so much.

I had a major issue with Bullard going 26 mins tonight. When the guy is hitting from the outside, its great but tonight he was ice cold and his defense was horrific. Any one remember the sequence where Scottie Pippen was about to dump it down low to Wallace but then Mr No Lateral Movement Matt Bullard turned his head and Pippen drove baseline for an easy layup. That one definitely evoked a lot of ire.

I'll take a stab at what Rudy's rationale was for keeping the lineup with Bullard and KT in for the final 16 mins. Whenever the team is in a hole like the Rockets were 18 pts down, and Rudy makes a lineup change, if that lineup plays well he will ride them out till the end of the game. He has always done this in the past. The problem is that the reason the Rockets wiped out the deficit had almost nothing to do with Bullard or KT. The main reason was Steve and Cuttino catching fire from the perimeter, and Carlos Rogers providing solid interior defense and rebounding.

I think that one of these days, Mo needs to be made a go-to guy the entire game. When Houston plays Dallas, I hope he gets the ball on every second trip down. If he could score 30+ points, his confidence would soar. Its time for Rudy to stop taking Mo out in the first quarter if he picks up 2 fouls. If Rudy isn't going to play Mo in the fourth quarter anyway, why take him out? He should play 48 minutes on Tuesday, and get about 20 shots. I know he would be a much better player after a game like that.

    ------------------
If I make this shot, the Rockets will win tonight. If I miss, they might still win, but I doubt it.
If I make two in a row, Florida's votes will actually count.

    ZRB,

Thats actually a very good point. I would not take it to that extreme, but I really think Mo needs to be left in there and established as a low post threat. I honestly thought last night was the one where Rudy would leave him in a long time esp since he was not in foul trouble and was shooting well from the field.

    This was supposed to be a pro-Los thread...not pro-Mo.

Like how when he came into the game to replace the lazy, non-rebounding Taylor he immediately had an impact with 2 offensive rebounds and put-backs!! He actually showed some heart!! He got a rebound!!

    I hate Mo's game.

If we have to rely on Carlos Rogers coming off the bench to win games, we are in serious trouble.

Ummm, why is that Jeff? right now he, KT, and dream are our most effective big men. (mo will come around, but for now)He hustles well, can post up(he has a jump hook), rebounds, and can run the floor. The thing i was most excited about when we acquired him was that he was big but still quick. so that he could cover KG in case we had to fight them for a playoff spot. He was averaging double figures in both points and rebounds last season before getting injured.

I completly agree with mo getting more minutes, I just wish that shandon would get more chaneces to score because when he has a good game they usually win.

Sure, it's easy to blame Rudy for taking Mo out at the end of the quarter. BUT IF MO COULD KEEP HIS ASS OUT OF FOUL TROUBLE he wouldn't really have to. [IMG]

I agree with everything you said until you said KT was one of our more effective big men. His FG% sucks and he cant even finish a layup most of the time. Also doesnt it irk you when it looks like he double pumps his 3 point shot?
