Lol you're right. Idk why I brought up Lin. Maybe I'm missing him and Chandler too much right now. But all I'm saying is that like everyone else on this team, Bev is not immune to some blame. As one of our core 5 guys and with 2 of those guys out, he needs to step it up offensively if other PGs are scoring 20+.

LOL. I appreciate your honesty. :) Bev is definitely not immune, and I agree that he needs to be knocking down every open shot that comes his way. As fearless as he is on defense, he could stand to be more confident on offense... I think that's the only way he'll ever improve. He takes a lot fewer shots than anybody else that plays the same # of minutes, and usually a lot fewer than the guys who play fewer minutes.

Seriously bev has been overrated , by clyde drexler. Bev can't create . And harden will be harden . Lets trade both bev and lin and get a real pg

I'd like to see him be more aggressive on offense. Maybe try to penetrate more. Especially when Harden's playing the way he did last night. I would say Brooks can do that, but he's just too undersized to not be a liability on the defensive end. Not to mention he's never been a good defender. If Bev can be more aggressive and channel some of his inner Brooks, even if he's not shooting efficiently, it'll be better than what we have right now.

LOL, are you Patrick Beverley's brother?!?! I can't even dissect all the foolishness here but Parker was schooling him. Did you not see the 4th quarter? It was a huge tip, but Parker was scoring on him like crazy. Lillard was held in check by Lin.

Rubio averages 8.7 ppg, 8 assists, so how did Bev lock him down, when he basically had the same game he has against every other pg? He held Bradley to 0 assists?!!??! WOW!! That's unbelievable, how many assists does he usually get? Bradley averages 1.3 assist per game!!! The 4 games before they played the Rockets, he had 0 assists as well. 12 out of 20 games this year, he's had either 1 or 0 assists, not that impressive anymore is it?

I dont have time go through every one, but you can't even remember what happened vs Kemba Walker? That was the 1st game of the year. Walker was going nuts on Bev. He scored 6 quick points in the 1st. Lin held him to 6 the rest of the game.

Yup, agreed. I don't think he's ever been asked to be much more than a spot-up 3 pt. shooter, but I like that he's trying to add that running floater to his arsenal. Anything he can add to get him to the basket will be a plus.

Great defense is not "par"- especially in today's game where almost no one plays defense.

I'm not sure that's entirely true. In some ways maybe, but he's pretty much known for adding intensity/energy to the other players and getting them to duplicate said intensity. Obviously, this isn't always the case (otherwise we wouldn't have games like the last two), but it is quite often.

I strongly disagree with this. I can't count how many times Beverley's defense has accomplished both of these things for us.

Offensively, I agree, he's not much of a play maker- but when you are a fast paced team like the Rockets, great defense leads to offense.

He's the only one playing defense when we lose (but still does it when we win), and at least one of the only ones playing really hard in that scenario.

If he's not at least getting credit for this, then he's not getting it where it's due.

Well, perhaps I should have phrased it like this:

So far, Lin has played better when coming off the bench with us than when he was a starter.

I think he was good as a starter too, but yeah.

Harden's problem wasn't a lack of rhythm. As you yourself stated, he couldn't buy a shot. He wasn't shooting well in rhythm, out of rhythm, with a turkey in his pants, etc..

On the contrary, I'm probably one of Lin's biggest supporters on this forum. Last season when he got a lot of flack for his playoff performance, I was on here defending him and saying he had a good season- and would only be better this season (which, so far, he has been).

I understand that the frustration with those who do bash Lin gets people to the point that it's easy to assume someone is being a hater, but I can assure you that is not the case with me- and I apologize if I came off that way.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying in the post you responded to. I personally wouldn't mind if Lin started again while Beverley went back to the bench- I was just saying it's not so easy to decide who should be starting, since both appear to play even better off the bench (so far) than they do starting. I think they both play well starting, too, though.

I disagree. Beverley was a huge reason for our success last season, and turns games around with his defense/energy/intensity alone.

He's a fairly rare example of a player who isn't massively talented at all facets of the game- his effort is a big part of what makes him so good.

I think you're missing the point when people say that. You do need help defense, but you yourself also need to be a great defender in your own right.

Beverley is a great defender and does successfully depend people more often than not- but there is the occasion where someone will score "on him" a lot because the rest of the players aren't doing their jobs and playing help defense, which Beverley does do.

Those win totals are incorrect. With Lin as the starter (Atlanta and Charlotte games cancel each other out as Beverley was injured early in the Charlotte game and Lin in the Atlanta game), Houston is 6-2. With Lin off the bench, Houston is 5-3. So he whether he comes off the bench or start is irrelevant.

More telling is the record Houston has when Lin is injured and does not play a minute. Currently we're 2-2. Houston is 9-6 with Beverley starting.

you do understand that 8-4 is the same winning percentage as 4-2. you also do understand that 12 games > 6 games and that by playing 12 games as a starter, Bev should have more wins than Lin as a starter in 6 games right?

The numbers also show that with Lin out, Howard and TJones haven't scored over 15 points a game.

The numbers show that with Greg Smith out, the sun doesn't shine as brightly.

Please go back and watch that game. Your memory is totally wrong. Bev was making Kemba look like an all-star the first few minutes do the game. He couldn't handle Kemba. Then look at how Kemba did the rest of the game... He got shut down by Lin.

Bev has no business playing infront of Brooks and Lin. His early season or preseason form has fallen by the wayside and the shine is gone. He scraps and all, but to be honest, everytime Brooks, Parsons, Howard and Harden are out there, we look better.

Or maybe let bev or lin try to play point guard.

I totally agree that if we had our team healthy then we would probably win at least one of the last two games and that many people are panicking. However, there are things you stated that I don't think are true. The starting PG on any team should be to run the offense and make plays for his teammates. That's how you win. Harden has shown that he wants the ball but he doesn't run the offense like a true PG. He runs it like he's always looking to be the man and it hurts the rest of the team. We might win games like that but we won't ever win a championship b/c if the other team shuts Harden down or if Harden has an off night then we are doomed. That's why Dwight doesn't score as much with Harden at the point. We need a true PG in the game to get everyone involved and make plays. Bev can't do that and Harden won't do it.

And I agree that that's the plan right now and it's not Bev's fault b/c he's just following orders. And Harden saying that people have to buy into the plan really means they have to sit back and let him just do his thing IMHO. But I think that plan sucks and McHale needs to man up and change the plan. Make Lin the true PG and have Harden play SG. Bring Bev in for a defensive spark or to shut a guy down. We would get more players on our team involved and we would actually make other teams have to play some D on us for a change bc we would actually be passing the ball more and have more motion in our offense.

Hooo now u guys figured it out! The problem is not bev , but the way bev is having to defer to harden . That sounds frightfully familar.
