The bigger perspective is that overall Dwight needs to stfu and letting his game do most of the talking on a consistent basis. That goes for Harden too. Like I been saying both of their leadership has been disappointing. Its hard to take someone seriously if they are not practicing what they preach on a consistent basis. Just my opinion and perspective on the matter.

Exactly... Zach Lowe had a tweet during the game about it taking 6 minutes for Dwight to score on a Post up but he scored immediately on a PNR. The thing he failed to mention however was that Dwight was like 6 of 7 from the line at that point and leading all Houston scorers. I get that PNR is probably the best thing to do with Harden and Howard. But people saying that Dwight got "Shut down" the other night are short-sighted. He didn't get "shut down" if they foul him every time and he hits his free throws. We're always trying to fit what we see on the court into these preconceived narratives we have in our minds.

The Knicks are a joke because Melo is a joke.

Why exactly do you use the term "b****ing"

Maybe because it's Dwight and your perception is him being a whiner. But had this been Mchale or another Rocket player nobody would have a problem with this. So in other words, Dwight Howard has absolutely no right speak out on the team problems now? Because anything he says becomes another opportunity for people to take shots at his perception when in actuality he's speaking truth. Not fair:(

I think this is right. Dwight's image has taken a hit over the yrs and perception often matters more than reality. That being said, Dwight's defense the last couple of games has also been meh. I don't mind what he said, in fact I like that he said it and in the way he said it (not just whining but somewhat encouraging and in a way like what a leader would say -- bit like Kobe)...BUT Dwight will have to BACK it up with ACTIONS in the games moving forward.

He's preached, now he needs to practice it.

No, the bigger picture is the team needs to play with effort every nite. I dont see Howard's problems being a lack of effort. His problem is he doesnt get the ball enough in the right spots, and he hasnt fully had time to adjust his game to the team. All stuff that will come with time while the team continues to develop around him. EFFORT is another story. James Harden letting scrubs blow by him on defense has nothhing to do with team chemistry...I'm glad Dwight spoke up

Maybe it hasn't helped his rep, but it's just...Look, some people just aren't good with confrontation.

I wonder how the team would perform with Lin, Parsons and Asik in and Howard and Harden out for 3 games. I think Lin and Parsons may do bonehead stuff out there, but the flow of the team would be better.

When was he burdened to carry the offense by himself? Wasn't there a point guard that put up assists and points and could play make that played every game last season?, a forward that put up points slashing and from the perimeter too? he actually played better when he shared playmaking rather than force himself into a one-man center of Houston's offense. kind of like now.

If Dwight is not good with confrontation its an example of dishing but can't take. Another poor leadership quality.

The flow probably would be better. This shouldn't make us feel warm and fuzzy on the inside as a fan base because Harden and Howard are suppose to be our cornerstones and if the Rox ever intend on getting to the promise land, they should be main reason we get there. Don't want to give the impression I'm knee jerking in this still young season but there are very valid concerns with both Dwight and James right now that I hope get addressed. It will start with both manning up and looking in the mirror.

If you guys take the time to read this article the title is very misleading. Howard is just trying to take a leadership role. There's nothing wrong with saying that we gave a poor effort after the worst offensive performance of the year.

Can't argue with any of that. They've got to step up, but Harden especially. A few 35 point plus games from him without anything else isn't going to cut it either.

Here we go, the national media trying to make Howard out to be the villian at every chance they get. It really is a shame.

It has nothing to do with that.

Some people are just not in your face like this. Some people are. It has its good and its bad sides.

But, rather than simply saying, "This team's effort needs to not suck," to the media, he can just go up to Harden and say, "Look, you hung-over apathetic ESPN #4-ranked went-to-his-head fool, I gave up thirty million dollars to play here, WITH YOU, so get it together. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!"

And the story would get leaked to the media ANYWAY (even if Howard went to Harden at home, in supposed privacy) and ESPN would have their "see why we love to hate Howard?" story to feed on for at least a season.

So which is the better way to get your point to the media?

Any reason for this request? On the surface, it seems like a reasonable comparison. The Heat were an average to above average team who paired superstars together and had early season struggles. This is similar to what the Rockets are going through.

Its an even bigger shame that our own fan-base is also. Prob still the ones that are butt-hurt that he once said he didn't want to come here.

And of course you're starting to see headlines like "Dwight Howard Blasts Houston Rockets..."

It's funny, when Howard was in LA last year, I forgot how many games in, but he started putting losses on effort, specifically lack of defense by players, which was Kobe of course.

When is it okay to start saying, "I told you so dwight."
