So you think McHale should use these exact words after the game?

It is very easy and comfortable to criticise and blame others when you don't show a lot of heart on the floor as well.

I mean Howard looks a little bit indifferent and slovenly on the court just like James Harden in certain games, I understand that this team is now in a little slump and losing to teams like Utah and Phoenix isn't very "exalted" and "joyous" but you still need to play with effort and enthusiasm, otherwise why would you even want to play in the game?
Effort and enthusiasm is an integral part of the game, you want to win games you need to play hard and show you care, elite teams play with heart, they never give up, they dive on loose balls and fight for every rebound, they guard their men until they can't make an open pass, and most importantly they move the ball and try to create themselves easy and open looks so you can commence a comeback.

In my opinion there are only few guys who actually shows effort and enthusiasm when they play and those guys are: Aaron Brooks, Patrick Beverly, Omri Casspi and Francisco Garcia (even though last game Cisco looked like he wanted no part in playing this game).

Unfortunately Howard doesn't put on a lot of effort it seems, we do know what Howard is capable to do when he really plays with effort and force, same about James Harden.

The Rockets knee-jerking as hard as Clutchfans. When Capt. Dreamboat gets back from his back spasms, all will be right again in Rocketland.

Because he wants to win it all, not just a playoff spot.

Dwight please stand up and be a leader.

That Haren guy is no leader. poor attitude, self entitled and an egomaniac

Yep... this definitely proves that the people pretty high up in NBA media circles actually sell Dwight drama as their form of shock-rock to drive interest & paint him as the bad guy. The NBA media wants so bad for him to be their Hulk Hogan NWO character... only this guy they root for to lose.

There was nothing he said that showed he wasn't a great teammate, or was giving up on his new team. However the headline certainly implies it.

Kudos for Dwight NOT BEING happy with that kind of effort and showing that he really does care about winning more than anything.

He is exactly right. I've never regretted wasting time watching Rockets games, but I have the last two games. Just an embarrassing amount of effort given.

People are reading too much into this thinking he's talking about Harden. This is Harden right after the last loss: "We go through mental lapses where we don't lock down on the defensive end." For both Harden and Howard its teamspeak, reproaching the effort of the whole unit, not taking shots at each other.

Dwight has more leadership in his left pinky then Harden ever had.

Harden talking about team's mental lapses? I guess he's not aware the team get us back in the game until a lesser Rudy Gay with no D came back on the court. He needs to look into the mirror before speak. A leader my ass.

Harden is the one who should come out and say something like this, where is our SUPER star Harden after the game?

Well, it should have been about Harden, because him and Harden are supposedly our super stars and leaders. This is supposed to be H-H team. We are supposed to go as far as H-H carry us. Remember those cliches?

After a loss, especially an embarrassing loss, all of the sudden, everything becomes "WE". How WE should have done better. How about FOR ONCE, our star and leader, start the sentence with "I", when it's not about credit but accountability?

This game wasn't about Howard, but I haven't heard him being self-critic after any of his bad nights either. This game was more about Harden, not his missing shots but rather missing efforts.

"We have 82 games" after such a sinker especially from the alpha dog, is a little bit disingenuous, to say the least.

    ?!?!?!?!?!?!?

    18 rebounds isn't a good effort?

And a problem with having an elite center---not "Olajuwon elite", mind you, that would be entering rarefied air, but elite nevertheless---is he can be largely nullified if he doesn't have a good point guard.

    Now, here we're in agreement.

The national media just could not wait for Dwight to make a statement like this. There is a general hate for him, mostly because he left the Lakers for the Rockets, and the media just cannot wait for any negative news from the Rockets to say "I told you so". This whole article is based on that and even though Dwight does say the right things, this will be turned against him by the media. Everytime someone writes about Dwight, there is always a agenda involved.
