I think SteveO is a better benchmark for Harden's ROX tennure so far.

How in the hell is he a selfish stat pading player? He is a excellent playmaker and maybe the best playmaker on our team. He plays no different than any other #1 option on a NBA team.

Health and motivation are the only things that can stop Harden right now.

He's definately not the best playmaker when PJ tucker is locking your ass up, and aaron brooks is hot, lighting up his man, but still won't give him the ****ing ball. It must be stat padding. what else can it be?

Tmac and Yao led a bunch of scrubs to playoff.
Harden and Howard led a bunch of scrubs lost to the worst team in the west.

Maybe they were talking about the University of Toledo Rockets.

Harden the best Rocket of all time (for Toledo).

No. To be considered the best you have to be a two way player. I would always take Hakeem and Yao over Harden. If you were a GM and you have 3 choice Yao, Hakeem, and Harden who would you pick. High scoring guards are not hard to find in this league. Skilled big men are the rarity. I think Dwight has the potential but I'd give him a 10% chance to ever get there.

Take tonight for example even with a poor shooting night if Harden had good defense he would've done something positive for the team tonight on one end of the floor.

don't necessarily need to trade him. but one thing is obvious. he needs to be the secondary guard on a championship team. he's not good enough to dominate the ball all the time. he's no kobe, d wade, michael jordan, tmac, iverson...he aint on that level. think ginoboli.

I don't think anyone was ever willing to place Harden over Hakeem. If he could keep putting up numbers and help the Rockets for the next 5+ years, then people could mention him.
This year, I don't know what is wrong with him. He just doesn't look interested for long stretches. Last year, he was constantly attacking the rim and wrecking havoc. He was a total game changer. He would keep us in game when our offense would stall or when we were going against a good team. This year, it seems like he is the reason why our offense is stalling so often. He puts big number but it doesn't have the same dominating feel it had when he was putting up numbers last season. This year, he isn't attacking right away. When he gets the ball, he holds on to it, the defense sets and adjust to take away his left hand. If he would just attack right away, he would get to the basket easy or at least get fouled. And the thing is that we saw what he did in the preseason, he looked like a definite MVP candidate. I don't know why that hasn't translated to the regular season. I wish he would come off of screens sometimes and that our offense would allow him to finish plays and not have to start it every play.
But, I'm not going to sell on James Harden. The season is still young and he is still a young player, trying to figure it all out. I mean, this is his first season where he has the pressure of making the team a contender while being the number 1 option. And while I don't think he is handling the situation the right way right now with inconsistent play and seemingly no effort, I believe he will figure it out soon. And when he does figure it out, watch out! The Rockets will be more dangerous than ever.

As I said, you're imagining things. No one said Harden could be better than Hakeem overall (Hakeem being one of the greatest defensive players of all time, and Harden being one of the worst defenders at his position).

They also have one over Durant, Westbrook and therest of the Thunder team. Harden had a bad finals but they would have not reached the Finals without Harden playing big in the Western conference playoffs.
