What are the theories behind this? I still can't make any threads and I've yet to stir up any LOFs or LOFHs!
This. I've seen so many new people make stupid useless threads, while I still can't...not sure what this is based on.
Basically op said, Lin's current role (6th man/bench player) is way too big for him to handle. He should guard water cooler. If he accepts his role like that, op thinks Lin can stay. Am I right?
rofl - those projected numbers for bev are so over the top. i think you predicted similar stat line previous match too. ended upb eing no where near the prediction. at least you are optimistic.
It's not suppose to be the strategy. It just fell on him because no one else was playing defense. Ideally you'd like him doing no more than man to man with a little help here and there- not trying to cover 3/4 guys at once and make up for the lack of defense everywhere else. I think this is where we missed Parsons. He's a very good defender, and would have taken a lot of load off of Beverley. Howard could have played quite a bit better, but his effort has been low in some games. T-Jones would have helped, but it just wasn't his night. Maybe most of the team didn't take the Jazz seriously enough. Maybe it had a lot to do with how little depth we had coming in for the game (due to injuries). Maybe it's just a rare night of "Any team can beat any team on any given night". Either way, these are the things we need to point at IMO.
Bev's real strengths do not show up on stats. Bev makes key plays and gives 100%. In short, without Harden playing, Bev makes a good back-up. In most teams, Bev would not be starting. Imagine, Harden is not on Rockets. Then, in all likelihood Lin would start with Bev and AB sharing back-up duties. Or, Lin gets traded for another PG, and that another PG would be starting. Bev is a beneficiary of Harden effect. My two favorite players on Rockts are Lin and Bev.
Response Sew, I like your signature phrase: "Before I walked through life, now I frolic." May I ask why you "frolic" now? What changed? Did you win a $100 Million lottery?
Exactly!!! He's gonna lock up Dragic tonight. Bev is gonna prove what a real Rox starting PG looks like!!
I think so , Bev has been playing out of his mind. I think he is our most consistent player. His D is really disruptive and he gets everyone involved. I think we need to start getting him the ball more on the offensive side. With the way he shoots it, he'll likely average close to 20 a game.
If I calculate correctly, he's shooting 47.3% from 2 point range and 35.1% from 3. Those are good numbers - the 40% is just skewed because he takes significantly more three point shots than two point shots. It's also skewed by the fact that, (if I remember correctly) when he came back from injury early in the year, he missed almost everything for a couple of games.
Yeah. I like Lin and Bev too. I respect and appreciate Harden and Howard but I like to watch Lin, Bev, D-Mo (not getting to do much of that) and now I'm enjoying T-Jones. Lin and Bev hustle, Bev much of the game and Lin has surges of pure hustle and aggression and just making stuff happen. And they are fun to watch together and are scrappy defensively. I looked at the stats and Bev's offensive rebound totals are impressive. Especially when you consider his height.
Response No question that Bev has a talent to get offensive rebounds for his height and hustles. However, his first step to the basket is not quick at all.
Well, he was injured, so you can chuck much of his 40.4 FG% and 52.4 TS% to coming back from rustiness. Still, as little defensive attention as teams pay him, he's still not that efficient offensively, so there isn't really much hope for him on that end of the floor. He isn't suddenly going to turn into somebody teams will have to devote some team defense to like Brooks. More concerning, though, is that his defense is vastly overrated: He sucks ass at defending screenplays. The more the other teams scout this, the bigger the liability Beverley will become on that end of the floor. Hopefully we can get something out of him before it gets too bad.
Why do people harp on Beverley's FG% like it means anything. He attempts like 8 shots a game and mostly threes within the flow of the offense. Nobody expects him to create any offense so he doesn't need to. When he plays with Harden Harden usually initiates the offense and when he plays with Lin, Lin runs the offense. He tries 100% on defense and that's what his job is. This is like people b****ing about Shane Battier's fg% like are you kidding me.
