Lots of improvisation in a high-paced offense will naturally lead to turnovers. I'm not overly concerned with it because it seems like we manufacture a lot of points out of pushing the ball in situations where other teams would slow it down. It might not completely even out, but at the same time, it comes with the territory of a run-and-gun team.

Lin needs to take better care of the ball. Dude has no business having that many turnovers per game in his 3rd year. I bet his ranking or turnovers per game is abysmal. He will never be an elite guard like Paul, Nash or Lillard if he doesn't get it together.

James and Dwight's turnovers are usually fouls that are no calls. Can't count how many times James or Dwight get hammered with no foul called. It's sickening sometimes.

And yet we have one of the biggest point differentials in the league. You're not accounting for the points we get from our opponent's turnovers. We're giving up a net of 4.4 points due to turnovers (assuming 1 point per) through last night's games, and yet we still average 6.1 more points than our opponents, 4th best this season. In addition, if you add the points we're losing to t/o's and add them to our point differential, we'd be outscoring teams by 10.5 points, which is more than the team with the highest point differential, Indiana with 10.1. So that's a bit unrealistic.

Also, when people talk about total numbers per game without taking pace into account, or even acknowledging that they're excluding it, they're being negligent and encouraging others to draw inaccurate conclusions. People act like a team that holds its opponent to 90 points per game but only scores 91 points on average is a better defensive team than a team that allows 100 points per game while scoring 106 points per game. They just play at a slower pace; that doesn't make them a good defensive team.

Anyway, they may be high in turnovers per game, but Howard ranks as only #112 and Harden as only #133 in turnovers per 100 possessions. Of course players that have a high usage on a team that pushes the pace faster than any other team in the league is going to suffer from high turnovers per game.

Dwight's turnovers are mostly from his stupid post move, not fouls.

Ok Rudy what will you have us do?
    Not support the rockets?
Oh I know, jump on that Heat bandwagon, or I know jump on that Laker bandwagon since Kobe dunked yesterday. Or here is a good one, maybe I should jump on that Warrior bandwagon with the splash bros.

Stats that matter.....13-6 in playoff hunt and getting better....

just support and wait till you GM a team.

Funny how turnovers are acceptable for player not named Lin.

Short leash here in houston and when he turns it over, people in the game thread come out & go crazy with the bashing. With H & H you going to get a thread full of excuses…”I can’t make this kind of stuff up”

Oh Im sorry I forgot the Indiana Pacers, no disrespect to the beasts of the east. Maybe see if there are any openings. Some fans forget the nucleus of this team have been together for a while and expect the rockets who have turned over their roster and added new pieces that anybody who knows basketball, knows it takes time to gel.

Fans every right to be angry when we lose to the 76ers and Jazz, but it happens. 82 freaking games so a playoff will lose at least 20-30 games.

Knee jerk threads like this are laughable and annoying.

Harden drives into defenders looking for fouls and doesn't get the bailout call while defenders start the fast break

Lin(19.7 TO%) turns the ball over significantly more than Howard(17.5) and Harden(16.7). The only guy who is worse than Lin is Asik.

It's kind of like the Heat. You can live with Lebron and Wade's turnovers, but when Chalmers starts turning it over, it's not as acceptable.

What? I was just answering his question... I wasn't making any kind of statement with my post.

You said I'm not accounting for points the Rockets get off of creating turnovers... I never made a statement one way or the other. I certainly take opponent's turnovers into account if I was breaking down the stats.

Almost all their turnovers come in halfcourt

Got me all riled up making typo errors.

If we start losing 3 or 4 in a row then I will start pulling my hair out and searching for stats to justify whats happening, until that happens, and it will, Im a happy rockets fan whose team is 13 and 6 with wins over the Blazers, Nuggets, Spurs, Mavs and after several b2b games.

If you don't like harden then good for you. I guess you know better than Morey or I guess the fact that Harden is a top 5 scorer in the nba and gets to the line escaped you.

TO are high because guys are feeling each other out, getting to know what each teammate likes, where they like the ball, how they like it. The longer they play together the TO will go down.

    End rant!

I agree with this. I'd like to see the data. Everybody knows that going down the stretch in close games especially buzzer-beater tie games or 1-3 point games that the offense is much less likely to get calls. That means that on those Harden forays to the rim he's going to have a greater chance of a turnover than even normally during the game. I think in those instances it would be prudent to further develop our set plays and either get the good 3-ball shot or perhaps an easier layup/dunk than Harden trying to force it as the clock winds down to zero.

Off topic, but we have the 5th highest attendance. Didn't realize it was that high with all the complaints about the empty seats.

Maybe it only counts tickets sold? There are a lot of lower bowl seats that go to companies but are not used.

Analogy will be acceptable if Harden starts even being able to sniff a ring. Until then, you can live with facts: #1 T/O in the league, piss poor defender, nice beard.
