Anyone listen to the program on NPR? It's quickly becoming my favorite new program. They have journalists from all over the political spectrum(thus the show's title.) It's very informative, and pretty well moderated so that it isn't dominated by just one guy, or they don't have people yelling over each other so that nothing gets heard. Check out the link and you can actually listen to past shows. http://www.kcrw.com/cgi-bin/db/kcrw.pl?tmplt_type=program&show_code=lr I'm just curious if there are any other listeners on this board?
I listen to it some during the week. It does have a calming effect. My NPR day is Saturday with Car Talk, What Do You Know, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Back Porch Music and Prairie Home Companion.
I might be on WWDTM on Sunday. The taping is tonight, though. If I get on, I plan to make an ass of myself and the host.
I listen to NPR. Several years ago, I was always on the road in the late afternoon, and really enjoyed a program called "Fresh Air" with Terry Gross (could be wrong on the name). I also listen to the NPR news once in awhile. I don't agree with the liberal bias, but I enjoy hearing an extreme point of view. My only problem with NPR is that I think the government should end any subsidy for operations. NPR is basically a partially tax-payer funded voice for the far left.
From NPR's website: NPR's annual revenues come primarily from member station dues and programming fees, contributions from private foundations, and corporate underwriting. The only direct government funding NPR receives is through competitive grants from government agencies for specific projects. Such grants are awarded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the National Science Foundation, and the National Endowments for the Arts and the Humanities, and typically represent only 2% of total revenues.
The liberal bias on Left Right and Center? The program has people from every part of the spectrum. There isn't any bias. Or maybe it appears to have bias because the conservatives don't have a leg to stand on in their arguments.
Oh sorry, I didn't realize that was a show. I listen to NPR all the time but I don't think I've heard Left, Right, & Center. Hey we listen to NPR and read the NYT, we know what to expect, and we always have a counterargument ready.
