You would not mind? Gorge right now is probably the 3rd best player in the NBA.

George by a mile. His offense keeps rising and his D is worth mention in DPOY conversations.

Harden is a smarter (not by a lot) a more willing passer version of Carmelo Anthony.

I think it's time to close this thread.

This is a insult to Paul George.

Maybe we should start a thread with Lebron/Durant/George instead?

We shall believe.... George has played better overall but my hunch says we have not seen the best Harden this year

And he can still elevate his D to mediocre level

I remember saying this a year ago LOL wth

    LOL

stop making stuff up. Hayward blew by him for a layup, it was so sad even Harden slapped his hand in disgust. There was another play early1st that was certainly not in transition, Burke was barely jogging the ball up. Harden just wasnt really caring, Hayward noticed, just basically ran forward for an easy lay up.

There was another play late in the 1st, I remember yes it was in transition but he wasnt racing down the floor. He was in front of Hayward when he got the pass but instead of moving his feet, he reached and got badly crossed over for another layup.

THe effort is not there, and people need to stop with the excuses. I understand if you dont him guarding LeBron, Kobe if you can help it, but to have to be switched off of people like JJ redick and Gordon Hayward!?!??! Certainly respectable players, but if you're a star in this league you shouldnt be put in a position to avoid them because it makes you tired!

It was his man period. Like I said Murphy, Bull and Bill even said that pimp. Harden has to fight over the screen and he has to move his feet. You didn't see dude blow by him at least three times in the 1st.

I said it last season, but harden is nowhere near George. Not even close.

Harden needs to cut his beard off. Maybe he'll play better.

Actually, he's not making up anything. Go here and watch the video for yourself:

    http://stats.nba.com/gameDetail.html?GameID=0021300259#

Click on the FGM column for Hayward and you can watch the video of all of his made baskets. You'll see that on the night he scored 5 baskets with Harden guarding him. Likewise you can watch the video for Burke and Burkes and see that they each scored one basket while Harden was guarding them.

BTW in the first quarter Hayward scored 3 baskets while Harden was guarding him (8:57, 5:14,1:08). I believe Aleron said that Harden had 6 points scored on him in the 1st quarter. The video seems to back that up. Hayward's other two scores with Harden guarding him came in the 3rd quarter (5;08, 1:24).

For the record Hayward made 12 FG attempts. On those 12 makes he was guarded by Harden 5 times, Garcia twice, Brewer 3 times, Beverley once and T. Jones once.

Hayward had a good game. He moved without the ball and shot the ball well. Brewer is a very good defender and Hayward scored on him 3 times in less than 4 minutes of action.

Let's face it, no matter what Harden does it will not be enough for some people. No point in going back and forth. George as 43 points on 30 shots with 3 assists in a loss and he gets praised...Harden had 37 on 22 shots with 8 assists in a loss and he gets criticized. Unbelievable.

Thank you for doing this work - this kind of substantive analysis makes wading through all the crap worthwhile.

Hey you people are right on the money. As long as Harden puts up great numbers on offense who cares about his lackluster defensive effort. He gets a pass in that department, he is our leader, the Superstar. And for myself and others who complains about his defense is way off base.

Rockets fans love George so much they hate Harden...Lol.. They hate Harden so much that they give Harden all the credit for that 17 point first quarter Hayward had even though Harden wasn't guarding Hayward the entire 1st quarter. But Harden gets no credit for the 4th quarter when he was on Hayward most of the time..

A rookie point guard who just really started getting time had a career night looking like an All Star... But Rockets fans don't say nothing about Bev's defense... They say nothing about Garcia's defense. And they say not a d@mn thing about how much of a non factor Howard can be...

That shows the love they have for George and hate they have for Harden...

REMII really like your posts on how you dont show favortism, you keep it 100

Harden got better on D at the end, had to put the team on his back by scoring 37points, why is BEV a starter never held accountable on CF ?

Exactly. Harden is going to get blasted by some folks no matter what he does. I'd wager that even after the SA game the people that dislike him still disliked him, but they knew better than to post negative stuff here.

The funny thing is, I agree with a lot of the comments about his lackluster D and bonehead offensive mistakes. However, the way the hate gets piled up on Harden here I find myself defending him. Ya know, because he's a Rocket and all.

And for the folks calling HtownBaller a LOF, you're barking up the wrong tree. Dude got banned on the chron.com forums for insulting the LOF trolls over there. Previous to that he was defending Harden. He's no LOF.

Go look at the damn game thread and you will see I talked about Bev's and Brooks terrible defense in that game. Who the F did Harden shut down in that game. No damn body, every perimeter defender for the Rockets got torched by Utah's perimeter players.
George is not a freaking Rocket so don't nobody really care about dude. Harden is not exempt from constructive criticism but I guess in your small world he can do no wrong. I quess you gonna call the local radio station and tell them they cant say nothing remotely negative about Hardens defense. LOL

But hey you are indeed right, Harden is by far the best all around player in the NBA. He is a defensive juggernaut

Exactly Jet and ole Remii knows that because he was on the Chronicle as well and we both defended Harden to the TEE on there. Especially when those LOF's attacked this man every move. But Harden has to improve on defense period. We all know he's going to give max effort on the offensive side but defensively I don't see that same effort. This is dating back to last season not just this season..lol

    Agreed pimpin'

It's a little more regulated over here but you still have to be wary of getting labeled when you call out a player (Harden or Lin in particular). If you nailed Chandler or T. Jones you're probably safe.

Of course if we had George and he put up Harden's offensive stat line last night some people would still complain, but that's the nature of the beast. From what I saw the team defense was awful all the way around. We freaking lost to the Jazz. I hate the Jazz. It's bad enough losing to them when they're good, but now? Ugh.
