If you were a rookie in the NBA and you got to choose any team to play on which team would you choose?
The Spurs, Mavericks, Rockets, Warriors, 76ers, Pelicans and Suns. In that order. I would want to develop my skills as much as possible, and play in a structured environment with experienced coaches, a competent management and training staff, good ownership, and preferably good veteran influence.
I really want to be a rookie for the Spurs right before Duncan and Pops retire and the cow town city starts realizing the Spurs suck and they, yet again, yell for an NFL team and trade the Spurs to Seattle for the Seahawks. Spurs? y'all have to be kidding me. No rookie wants to play there, any more than Shandon Anderson wanted to keep playing for Jerry Sloan and Stockton/Malone. so silly.
If I were an NBA rookie? Houston Rockets. Objectively, with no bias towards a single team? Lakers or Knicks.
Give me the Celtics, Philly and maybe Orlando Common theme is solid coaching, young nucleus, great NBA city (maybe not ORL) and lots of assets for continued development. Also being in the east is underrated in this case because it increases your chances of seeing the playoffs early in your career.
the heat. let lebron do all the work, get a ring, get a lot of money, go to clubs and have a lot of sex with models
If I didn't barrack for the rockets I would want to go to a big market and then cash in on the media hype
Probably the Knicks or the Nets. I'd want a chance to play a few minutes (due to injuries to the starters) but would not want to play in Sacramento, Charlotte, Utah, Milwaukee or Philadelphia.
Rockets. Even objectively speaking, the Rockets. And there are two reasons for this. 1. No state taxes. Unless I'm a top 5 pick and has millions guaranteed, every last penny counts. 2. I want a team that focus on player development. And I know that even if I'm not good enough to play, I can develop my game in the DLeague. While some players and fans may complain about Morey treating players like assets, as a rookie I wouldn't really care. Make money first, then worry about being settled into a particular location.
I'd prioritize mine by in no order: location, management, fan base, teammates, marketing power. In no order: Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, NY, Houston, Dallas, Boston, Orlando, and Phoenix.
DESPITE THE RECORD, I'd go with the Nets. Yes, they're losing right now, but consider: 1. You would be able to learn from some future HOFs, All-Stars and generally smart players : KG, Pierce, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez, DWill, JKidd. 2. Your owner is all about marketing his product and allegedly spoils his players from the locker room and throughout the city. Jay-z endorses you and you immediately have sweet connections with the rich and beautiful. 3. After learning from these Greats, when they retire, it becomes a young, talented team with a bright future. 4. You're basically in NY. Who doesn't like to live there?! 5. Jason Kidd---He is struggling because of his players. He is undoubtedly one of the smartest basketball minds around. Although he hasn't coached, his knowledge of the game, the NBA life and overcoming adversity are beneficial. I'd much rather be a PG and learn from him than listen to worthless Mike Brown or the other Mike (Woodson) shout from the bench. *****I thought Houston wasn't a choice, but if it were, I'd be joining our boys in Red as a backup SG
Well I live in Miami, and I HATE I mean LOATHE the heat. Wtbs I wouldn't mind sittin on my ass and getting paid for basically loving at home
