I have no problem handing him more minutes when he is hot from downtown, but starting him is a really bad idea IMO. The guy should never be more than a situational guard on our team.
AB, if I recall, could get pretty tempermental. He'd be in a slump and start throwing fits on the court or on the sidelines. Obviously he's older now and has seen the world. So far this and last season I haven't seen that tempermental side of him.
Situations and fit matter, he lost his starting job while injured, even though he had 19 points in the first half of the game in which Ginobli hit his foot. It took Brooks nearly a year to get back to himself and by then he was in China. It took Jeremy nearly a year to get back from his meniscus tear - sometimes these things take time, and it opens the door for others....not fair, but that is the way it is. When Brooks got hurt, Lowry seriously stepped it up, and played fantastic, and deserved the job, then Lowry got hurt and Dragic outplayed both AB and Lowry and earned the job. Both pouted, but only one was welcomed back - and that says a lot too. DD
I was one of the only people that liked the lowry/rafer trade and was a big fan, but he REALLY turned me off with his behavior. Lowry was not good enough to tell the organization it was either him or Mchale.
Lets keep the cycle (or curse) going. Rafer -> AB (who was injured) -> Lowry ( who was injured) ->Dragic (who left)->AB again (Lin is injured)
The problem with Brooks has always been that he is very one dimensional as a starting PG. If his shot is off, he needs to be on the bench. Lowry and Dragic could make a positive impact shooting 2-10. Especially Lowry, who didn't need to hold the ball nearly as long as Dragic did and still does. That makes AB the perfect 6th or 7th man. We are incredibly lucky to have him. I love Aaron Brooks, and I am looking forward to him turning into a Jason Terry/JJ Barea esque backup guard in the latter half of his career.
So maybe AB is our destined starting PG after all. Never seemed right that he'd be so marginalized in the league after his injury. Glad he came back to the Rockets.
Just leave it up to the coaching staff you idiots. One of their fingers has more NBA coaching knowledge than this entire forum. Besides in case you haven't heard, THEY DON"T LISTEN.
Where did the Rockets as a Franchise say he is a Cornerstone guy? He was traded one year after his best season.
Considering where this team has been the past few years with the guard positions, I am very much enjoying the Lin-Bev-Brooks competition. Factor in Harden's minutes at his SG/PG game and our depth here is fantastic. We have 3 guards who could start on lots of teams in the league, and they are fighting over minutes to cover the Harden/swing situation. The team wins no matter who wins that fight.
No really. Lowry is a punk and I'm glad his lazy fat piece of **** ass is gone. Seriously, when do you get the audacity to give the organization an ultimatum about the coach? Especially when your a mediocre player in the game. Wouldn't want his surly attitude locker room presence even for a bag of chips.
