stoudemire scored like 5 pts in the 2nd game? giving the spurs fits? i dont think so. its marbury doing it. Spurs have no answer.
I am a bit dissapointed - I wanted Co-ROY at worst. Sad we could have killed 2 birds with one stone had we not imploded and gave the final playoffs place and ROY award to the Suns and Amare respectively. I was hoping that Yao winning the ROY will help ease the pain of not making the playoffs and now I am mad. I going on my rampage again for therapy sake. Major changes needs to be made and someone needs to pay for it or "we" Les pay for inaction by making an impact or lack there of at the gates. Scheiße!
I didn't think I cared at first, but it's a little depressing they're not at least sharing it. I think this will inspire Yao to be a better player next year. First game against Phoenix next season, I guarantee Yao will be huge.
As I said on another thread, I think that painting Amare as someone who did not deserve the ROY is a little more than misleading. His season was much more than Sportscenter highlights, as someone theorized. In fact, I would argue that the Yao hype machine dominated the recaps much more than Amare ever did. Many analysts said long before it was determined that whoever made the playoffs would determine the ROY. In that time period, Yao's numbers floundered a bit and Amare flourished. They both had the same shot and one of them got it. That should be that.
Yao and Amare will both be much improved next season. Amare doesn't even lift weights yet, for cryin' out loud. And there's no way Yao comes to camp tentative next year. He'll be ready for 38 mpg, and he should get it, too.
Yao has class. Amare smokes grass. Yao is the hope of a nation. Amare is the hope of a thug neighborhood. Yao has won already won a championship is his country. Amare cant even get out of the 1st round in his country. Yao is a pure shooter(b-ball). Amare is a pure shooter(8-ball a glock & a 40 ounce). Yao has alot of character and shares his wealth with his country. Amare is simply another character w/ a thug mentality to get rich in the NBA. dont want to sound judgemental, but what th hell why not.
any team who has to depend on a rookie to get into playoffs is pretty sad. rockets , suns , or anyone.
I wish I was Yao for a year... I'm come back stronger than ever, have a picture of Amare in my gym mocking me (use for motivation), and come back next year with looking to kick some as*!$# I'd learn every weakness of Amare, and make sure to push those buttons next meeting! Hey! That's what Larry Bird did. And that's what Bill Russell did! Yao -> <-Amare (Marbury) (Marion)
Well, it looks like AS has won the ROY but the thing that pisses me off perhaps more than Yao losing is the great hypocrisy shown by the media pundits who first heaped tons of scorn on Yao because of his lack of credentials (He played against vastly inferior competition in China and against soft international teams in games with strange internatonal rules! He will get eaten up alive against real competition in the NBA. He is weak/underweight/anemic and makes Bradley look like Chamberlain. He never had to play against "brothers" before as so famously stated by Sir Charles, etc, etc) Of course, once Yao started playing well as the season progressed, these media types suddenly changed their story and admitted he had game and started to kiss ass figuratively and literally. It was as if the experts had to go overboard in their new assessment of Yao to cover up the vicious and petty quality of their initial comments. However, once the ROY race heated towards the end of the season, a lot of the same pundits who initially denigrated Yao's background started to talk about the advantages that Yao had with the insinuation that he somehow had an unfair advantage over AS because "he had all that PRO experience in China (equivalent to NCAA Division 2 ball at best) and invaluable experience against all those great international players" while poor little AS had to struggle on his own as an innocent little 6-10 245 pound 20 year high school student with all the odds in the world against him despite being one of the most impressive physical specimens to ever come out of high school to dominate in the summer pro league. So which end of the stick is the real one for crying out loud? I am so looking forward to next season when all the hype and attention will turn to LeBron James. The nauseous quality of the Karl Rovian press is hard to stomach.
What's so cool is Amare is quite the opposite. He's never been arrested, and he had to deal with a lot of people trying to take advantage of him. One of the positive influences was his older brother. He was a basketball star himself, but got mixed up in a lot of stuff and landed in prison. He didn't want Amare to mess up like he did, so he was able to keep Amare seperated from the thugs. There were also conditions set up by the Suns organization, like requiring him to have a live-in counselor and having his money managed by a financial management firm. He has a lot of good people looking out for him.
"...and shares his wealth with his country. " Yao is a commie who has no choice but to do so. Amare shares his wealth, too. In the form of income taxes.
Why is everyone saying Yao lost instead of Amare won. People need to take their hat off and give the man his due. Also give Frank Johnson and the other players their due also. If not for a injury to Googs, Amare probably wouldn't have put up the numbers he got. Give props to Marbury who broke the defenses down and set Amare up with dunks and layups off pick and rolls instead of keeping the ball and shooting bs. Congratulate the best high schoool to nba player we have seen since Moses Malone. My problem is with those media types that actually gave Butler more 2nd place votes than Ming. Thats my thing. their team stayed the same or got worse and Butler gets more votes than Ming.
