Truth. People saw the 20PPG and that's it. There is no age old Lowry v. Brooks debate. It was obvious then, and it is now. That being said, I hope Brooks has a chance to knock down a few 3s this year.
Your memory wasn't correct. AB was scoring at a not so efficient manner and his defense is disaster to say at least. When his shots are on, he was fine. But on the days his shots were not falling, he usually had negative impact on the court. Lowry was the PG made the most impact even though he was coming off the bench, Rockets 2nd unit featuring Lowry and Landry outplayed opponents 2nd unit almost every time.
It was clear 2009-2010 after Artest left that we were half assing the post McGrady/Yao era, kind of twiddling our thumbs in limbo since our two porcelain superstars were holding us hostage with their health. To that end we just put the ball in Brooks hands as much as possible and just told him there was no spot on the floor where he didn't have a green light. So yes, in that sense we did our best to try to elevate his value around the league. By the second half of that ear though (and I don't wanna go thread necromancy on this topic) a LOT of the credible posters on here started to see how much better we were with Lowry out there. Even with his crappy outside shooting a big debate sparked up (which IMO the Lowry backers won), and then the rest was history the following season when Brooks got hurt, Lowry took the starting spot, and his 3pt percentage jumped like 100 points. The debate died there, DD went off into the wilderness to lick his wounds, and we traded Brooks at the deadline for Dragic (and a pick! Amazing). /history lesson
Okay I'll take some of this back There's 1 too many dumb Lin threads on the front page (Finally read the " Harden giving anyone else credit?" thread, didnt know it was cleverly disguised Jeremy Lin propoganda) So yeah, its what it is, and its kinda lame Onto BROOKS now: Stating the OBVIOUS - Most teams on't have 4 point guards. Some are comfortable with just 2 point guards. Harden can play point in a pinch, he's probably the better designated 3rd emergency PG. So having the 1 extra PG causing a glut when there's other weaker positions, will definitely raise suspicions about what front office is doing
Yeah, AB can play and play well. I will happily buy you a beer and explain how basketball is played, whether you choose to listen is up in the air. GO BROOKS ! GO ROX !! DD
AB has always been a good NBA player, he has deficiencies and strengths, put him on the floor with a big to protect the rim, and give him the ball with an edict to score and he thrives. He excels in that role other PGs that we have discussed excel in their own way too, it is purely a matter of taste. DD
Really like what brooks being to the team. I think a 4 guard rotation should start when harden returns. Brooks & Lin should come puff the bench together with ASIK.
Who doesn't love a guy with a quick shot and unlimited range? And he has added a mini-skyhook to boot (perfected it during his year in China, he said). He's found his confidence again and got his joy back. Kudos to his girls for telling him they don't want to move around anymore, they prefer to stay in HOU.
