Uh, no. McHale was brought on to coach a rebuilding team. There's no way he even gets a sniff if the Rockets were play off ready when they got rid of Adelman. And your view of "working" is apparently different than mine... I wouldn't be surprised at all if McHale is done when his contract expires.
Is it possible to package McHale and Asik in a trade like what the Celtics were trying to do over the Summer?
It could work since McHale contract is expiring (team option next year). It must be worth something to a team who is trying to clear cap.
Thibs is currently in the middle of his contract (ala Doc Rivers), so the most likely scenario to get Thibs to Houston would be to do a lop-sided trade in favor of Chicago, and in return they release Thibs and we sign a contract with him (assuming he wanted to come to Houston). That said, it's all in the air at this point. We have to see how much Chicago does in terms of tearing it all down. If they do a full rebuild, then it's anyone's guess if Thibs wants to stay or leave for a legitimate contender.
Not the first year. Rockets had almost the same roster when McHale took over. Rebuilding teams do not have many vets. McHale even said it during his first press that Rockets had many pieces could be part of a championship team and fully expected winning a playoff spot.
Mchale has absolutely no set plays he can rely on when the ball stops, NONE, other than his dribble hand off plays that lead into an ISO, or posting up Dwight, I wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets were dead last in mid range jumpshots, I don't remember the last time they had a guy spot up from mid range off a set play.
This is such a gimmick offense that cannot do much come playoff time when the game slows down like today. McHale's incompetence is right here for all to see. No set plays whatsoever when 3's aren't falling
Absolutely tremendous coaching tonight. Found a lineup that was effective, stuck with it and hopefully, we will get the win.
Baller move by Mchale tonight sticking with what's working. Not many coaches have the guts to leave his stars on the bench the entire 4th. Major props.
pretty sure playing a really good defensive grizzles team on the road without your best scorer had something to do with the offense
