People need to chill. This man has given his blood sweat and tears for this game and organization for what is going to be twenty years. Has been competitive EVERY single game shaker every single opponent throughout his career. A living legend. The kind of player than can bring the lakers back from any situation during a game.

He sells out mostly everywhere he goes, im pretty sure he leads the league in shirt sales, he is a the biggest global icon for the NBA and the lakers. Money is not an issue.

I wish we could've had a player like that in our organizAtion (hakeem left). I wouldn not be b****ing about the best player in your franchise history extending his last contract of.his career, which I promise will be great. Idc how big the check was. I mean wouldnt yall have given any money for hakeem to stay and retire here ( well.kobe is still way way more productive at this point that hakeem. But you get my point)

Can't be mad at Kobe or the Lakers on this one. If they're able to sign Melo, I don't see them having any problems with luring other vets over at a discount to chase a ring.

right business move, since Kobe generates so much money for the franchise. Wrong because they can only lure another max.

    BLAH BLAH BLAH.....

For all his "legend" status he is a notorious chucker that raped as many girls (1) as he has MVP's (1). Gasol bailed his but out against the Celtics as well.

Kobe hasn't been an average defender in a decade or longer, and last year he was the worst defensive shooting guard in the NBA getting over 30 minutes a game. He is in his upper 30's and coming off of a major injury.

Enjoy the next 2.75 years of Kobe making an average of $25,000,000 a season

I won't be laughing when they sign Westbrook 4 years from now, but for the moment, I'll enjoy my sensible chuckle.

A 36 year old Kobe Bryant, coming off of a major injury and a 30 year old Carmelo Anthony.... without Gasol..... is going to attract productive ring chasers? Good luck with that!

He's making 30 million this year. So in Kobe terms, it's a "paycut".

Lol this won't end well. Kobe is going to come back and demand 45 minutes a game to drag his team to a ninth seed and probably reinjure himself in the process.

As for loyalty Kobe has been paid if he was truely loyal he'd take a serious paycut to help the team sign some free agents. The idiot Faker fans think somehow they'll resign Gasol and sign Melo and Lebron.

kobe doesn't care about winning anymore. he just wants to chuck up a ton of shots to pass kareem and become the all-time leading scorer.

I do not doubt that Kobe wants Gasol back (of course at a substantial pay cut, because only Kobe gets to make the big bucks). However, why would Gasol want to comeback? Even if Gasol does come back.... last year the Lakers had Kobe, Howard, Gasol, Nash and Jamison and couldn't win a damn thing.... no now an OLDER Gasol, Kobe and maybe Anthony is supposed to contend? Howard is better than Anthony, and the Lakers won nothing.

Unless LeBron walks through the Staples Center, the Lakers are mediocre.
