DOd, you know not what you say! Mr. lucas is very accurate in his Mobley Jordan comparison. He's a student of the game who understands the rarity of a Mr. Mobley. Lucas is particulary comparing the offense similiarities of the two. Lucas understands how hopeless and at times humiliating it can be for a player to endure Mobleys offensive repertoire. Jordans offensive repertoire is as comparably deadly n' this Mr. lucas recognizes being a student of the game. Lucas knows how unforgiving a step-back jumper combined with a driving--scratching-slashing ability can be to a defender, particularly a Nugget defender. Mr. Mobley has this which Mr. Lucas knows. Now, I, myself,( Mr. Lucas very well may too after voicing such an acurrate statement) feel pity to these lone' defenders who must recieve such punishment from Mobes. Once. twice. thrice. okay! thats enough! But...Mobes, continously tormenting these lone' defending desperados with slashin' drives after slashin' drives after jumpshots n' more jumpshots, Well...it just aint' a right. dammit! I feel fore' the fellas that must face Mr. Mobley i really do. And Mr' Lucas does too, hence the Jordan Comparisons. ------------------ [This message has been edited by ROCKETBOOSTER (edited December 01, 2000).]
Booster, You've been inhaling too many rocket fumes. Yes Mobley is great on offense, and yes, his game does compare somewhat to MJ's on offense, but he does not compare to MJ. First, there were great one-on-one players in the past. Vinnie Johnson comes to mind, and is comparable to a Mobley coming off the bench. That doesn't make him an MJ. For one thing, compare Mobley's and Jordan's FG%. Jordan was unstoppable all the time on offense because of his FG%. Mobley is erratic... on again, off again... when he's on, he's dynamite, when he's off, he's shooting 38%. Yes, Mobley is explosive. Yes, Mobley is a great one-on-one player. Yes, Mobley is unstoppable at times. But to compare him to MJ is sacrilege!!!! ------------------ -------------- Did you know? Derrick Chievous sucked. It's true. -- from the ClutchCity.net "Did You Know" sidebar
Jordan averaged 28ppg as a rookie...and then Jordan got even better. Cuttino can't even comprehend half of Jordan's moves. This one isn't even close.... But having said that, I would never say never. Cuttino does have the mental strength to achieve what Michael did.. and you don't need the physical skills to be a champion... you simply need to play the game mentally. It's in the realm of the possible (however improbable). ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Nice point... Larry Bird was an example of what you said above. ------------------ -------------- Did you know? Derrick Chievous sucked. It's true. -- from the ClutchCity.net "Did You Know" sidebar
There is no comparison between MJ's game and Mobleys game because MJ got all the calls from refs and the NBA cheated for MJ. Mobley has to earn his points he does not get any preferred calls like MJ did. ------------------
Bravo DoD. Weren't people comparing Francis to Jordan last year? Oh, and what about Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Harold Miner, and Penny Hardaway? It seems that everytime a good 2 guard comes into the leagues (well, Vince can play the 2), shows a move with a remote resemblance to MJ's, he gets dubbed "the next MJ." Yes, I know you weren't calling Mobley TNMJ, but I don't think the comparison is very useful. Yes, Mobley does have a mid-range jumper... but so did Jeff Hornacek. Would you consider him much like MJ? So do Michael Dickerson, and Peja Stojakovic. Mobley's small, has problems with defense, doesn't rebound well, and doesn't pass particularly well (although he has his moments there). Let's stay away from the grandiose comparisons and appreciate Mobley for what he is... a talented 2-guard with a sweet mid-range jumper and the ability to penetrate. ------------------ Shandon Anderson rocks. The lottery sucks. Playoffs 2001.
God...you have to be kidding me right. Anyone who thinks Mobleys offensive repitoire is similar to Jordans, needs to pop in that tape that Jordan shoveled in 63 against a dominate team like the C's way back. One major difference is that Jordan early in his career could finish like no other. Id hardly say Mobley fits that discription. Jordan just couldnt be stopped for less than 20 his first year, or 30 his second. Before all the BS ref calls. Im going to go out on a limb and Agree with DoD. Mobleys a nice player and all, but Kobe, Carter, and Iverson are way closer...way way way closer than Mobley. ------------------ "I have amazing, powers of observation"...Pink
BTW who else was on those early teams w/ Jordan or rather who else demanded the ball as much? If Mobley was all on this team. He'd be starting he'd be making 20+ a game [See Iverson . . .] Rocket River ------------------
There's no comparison as of yet and in all likelyhood never will be. MJ was the best EVER! ------------------ "The world is filled with mediocrity; rise above it. Distinguish yourself!!!"
Mobley is one of the most exciting players in the game today. He can score like no other, but that is all he can do great. He can steal a ball every once in a while but he is not consistant enough to aven be an all-star in the future he can be maybe the best 2 gaurd in the game but he will the never even be close to the most dominant ahtlete of all time Micheal Jordan. ------------------ Steve and Mobley will lead this team to the championship for years to come
Dare to compare. ------------------ "The world is filled with mediocrity; rise above it. Distinguish yourself!!!"
