i believe Garnett is a great player, Shaq is better, but shaq is the most dominent player in the L. But Nowitzki and iverson aren't even close to Garnett. Iverson shoots to much and is just a scorer. Nowitzki can't guard a sole, and is a pure scorer like iverson. last year i thought nowitzki was better then garnett. but i do not think that anymore. Granett does it al. ok maybe he isn't a pure scorer. but he tries to get his teammates involved (you know what we all think Francis should do). and you blame him for not being selfish enough. Garnett is a team player, he just needs some help. He is one of the best defensive players in the L what do you al want from him? taking 40 shots a night? then you wil start complaining about how he doesn't involve his teammates
asking where was garnett... where the hell was sczerbiakjafikjasdflma sac?? how much did they pay this guy again? he's out there doing almost nothing and looking dejected all game
i really feel for KG cause he'll be losing in the first round again. Hey KG come to the Rox we need a real power forward! We'll get ya out of the first round brutha!!!
Garnet played 3 times more minutes than Madsen. Horry played 2 times more minutes than Madsen. Why are you implying that Madsen really even guarded Garnett all that much, much more trying to imply Madsen held him down?
Aside from the fact that Garnett again dropped another freaking solid performance tonight, in a win (35 points, 20 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, 1 block), yall are all smokign crack. KG not a superstar? KG not one of the most dominant players in the game?? KG not an MVP candidate, top 3 player in the world??? The guy is the best all around player to come to the NBA in a number of years. He's a triple double threat every single night, and while he may not be the best scorer in the league, he is top ten, and while he may not be the best rebounder in the league, he is top 5 or better, and he is, without a doubt the best passing big man in the game right now. Plus he plays solid defense. He is everything that young kids should look up to. It is the type of game that wins. So why haven't they gotten farther. Say what you want, but that special player who can carry a team all by himself is a very very very rare treat. In the past 20 years, I can think of maybe three players who did that...Jordan, Olajuwon and Isiah - and each of those teams had other solid players. Take tonight. Yes, KG dominated like he didn't in game one. But, Troy Hudson put up 37 pts, 10 assists and Wally had a very good game as well. If either of those two is off, this game comes down to the wire, if both are just so so, the TWolves lose. Even Shaq, dominant as he is, has only even made it to the Finals with another dominant player (Penny when he was great and Kobe). Duncan, great as he is, won when Robinson was still healthy and that combo was strong as can be. Obviously KG has yet to equal championship on his own, but the way people are discounting his skills is kind of confusing.
And Jordan had Pippen, Magic had Worth and Kareem, Bird had Mchale, and so forth and so on. Thank you for pointing that out JayZ750. I find it ridiculous that some people expect so much from these guys. Rockets fans are spoiled by the two championships. Remember how far Hakeem used to get with Buck Johnson, not very.
Wow....I was going to type up a similar retort to all this non-sense, but you did it, and probably better than I would have.
I agree that KG is brilliantly talented, but I would not want him personally. Why? The same answer to "why haven't they got farther". He is waaaaayyy overpaid. The Wolves are cash strapped, because he alone takes up nearly half their payroll and, let's face it, he is no Jordan, Olajuwan, or Isaiah. He can't carry a team to a championship by himself and the Wolves can't afford to surround him with great talent (of course the whole Joe Smith/ draft pick debacle kind of screws them up too).
JayZ750, while we agree on a lot, Webber and Divac are better passers. Launch Pad, Isiah did not come close to carrying a team all by himself. imo, there were 4 HOFers on that team, once the voting is said and done. That was arguably the deepest team in history. It took Isiah 4 yrs to get to the playoffs. Joe Dumars won Finals MVP the first title...etc etc etc
How do you finish 9th in the league in steals if you play "NO defense"? Just because he doesn't shut every player he guards down doesn't mean he plays no defense.
Sorry, he's a terrible defender. Steals are only a useful stat if the person actually plays positional defense as well......Kobe, Christie, Artest. Concerning KG, thank GOD he had the game he did. That's how he should play every damn night in the playoffs. He may not have the same stats, but actually watching KG shoot the ball in the 4th quarter is having a lot of fans screaming....."ABOUT DAMN TIME". When he wants to score, there isn't a single player on the planet that can stop KG.
Umm...do you even watch any games, or do you just go by the scoreboard? Francis is a quick point guard. He has to get some steals by default. Besides he never picks his own man. He is an okay defender in the passing lanes. Plus now he can hustle just a little more because Yao and Eddie have his back. Just because he doesn't shut every player he guards down doesn't mean he plays no defense. Every player?!?!?!?! The next guy he shuts down will be his first. Tony Jesus Paker (yeah that 20 year old French boy) schools Francis routinely. Its embarassing as a Rockets fan to watch Francis play defense. I think he has gotten worse every year he has been in the league. No name 1's are always having career day against Francis! Breamer, Troy Hudson (he was playing against Fisher yesterday okay), Damon Stoudamire, Derek Fisher, etc. Watch a game before commenting on Francis's D!
To be honest, I agree with you 100% about Isaiah. I was just using the same example that JayZ750 posted in this statement for continuity : "Say what you want, but that special player who can carry a team all by himself is a very very very rare treat. In the past 20 years, I can think of maybe three players who did that...Jordan, Olajuwon and Isiah - and each of those teams had other solid players."
Name the other three Hall of Famers Dumars=yes Rodman=no Lambier=no Salley=no Aguirre=no V Johnson=no
Isiah=yes Dumars=yes Dantley--yes 24.3 ppg over 15 yr career...come on! Rodman=yes (imo, anyone who doesn't believe this is being unfair to his off court personality)...he was a career 13.1 rebounder and Defensive POY twice in a row...2nd person in NBA history to do so...I consider him the best non-center defender/rebounder of all time. Laimbeer=I'm going to say yes, the NBA voted him Top 90 players of all time. Parish made it. I don't really buy Laimbeer, but hey, I still expect him to get a lot of votes. The guy was career 13/10 and had 10,000 rebounds Aguirre--won't make for lack of years now, Dantley didn't win a title, but he was a major part of what got them over the hump and past Larry Bird into the Finals in 1988, and Dumars/Salley both call him their NBA mentor...the true leader of the team. Plus, you cannot deny that having someone like Dantley to trade is part of why you can't say Isiah did it by himself.
