I would take Duncan in any 1 game series or even 3 game series.
    CP3 is not a superstar.

    Superstars are born in playoffs.

    loooooooooooool

    being clutch is overated

Kobe by stats is one of the most inefficient shooters during clutch time, Lebron never turned clutch, Ray allen saved his ass

I respect that. CP3 can be argued.

That's one of the things I hate the most about Dwight and Harden. They're only considered the top of their respective position due to lack of any real competition. They're basically the best at their position by default.

Howard and Harden in terms of basketball skills...Jeremy Lin in terms of global "Hollywood" type superstar. But both Howard and Harden still have much to prove and are not even close to the likes of Kobe, Lebron, or Duncan....and never will be.

    Yep.

Being clutch doesn't mean you ALWAYS close games out.

Dwight's value far exceeds what PER would suggest because PER is primarily an offensive/rebounding efficiency stat. It doesn't do a good job of measuring defense.

If you go by career, i.e. including players like Kobe or Duncan, then Dwight's a superstar. You know why he's a superstar? Because everyone around the NBA talks about him and follow his every missed FT and post game.

If you go by pure production, then it depends on your cut off line for being a "superstar." If you cut it off as Lebron/Durant, then the answer is no. We don't have a superstar. But if you cut it off at the next level, Westbrook, CP3, George, etc., then both Harden and Howard are superstars.

This is the way I see it

What is the cutoff point. I think James and Dwight (this Dwight, not 2009 Dwight who clearly was) are glimmering superstars. I mean that in terms that if you watch James, you can clearly see that he is the best player on the court at any given time no matter who is at the other end. He has shown glimpses of being able to put the team on his back in a multitude of ways. The same can be said for Dwight, even last year with the Lakers, he had shades of old Dwight from time to time.
The point being, we have two great players and everyone here needs to stop knee jerking about the season so far. We are in an excellent position considering how new of a team we have and how we have to shift our philosophy with Dwight ton the court. We have something special here, now we just need to be patient until it finally clicks.

DH is a superstar. JH is a star that may become a superstar. PER is not the end all be all. I don't like PER and how it attempts to "adjust" for pace which yields inaccurate data IMO and how it does not accurately measure defensive value. Superstar calls inflate free throws and PER rankings over a season and career. It's a nice thing to know, but it is flawed.

These four are also on my list of superstars.

    We have none.

Man, after tonight, I just want to say that I love all the Rockets and I hope they can all stay healthy. Not taking a single minute they're on the floor for granted.

The closest we have to a superstar is Howard.

Haren is not even close. He is an absolute negative on D and is anti clutch. If he was at the very least average on D, some could make a case but he is horrid

well to me harden hasn't done nearly enough to warrant being considered a clutch player

    KOBE MUH CLUTCH SUPASTAR

    oh wait

Trailing by one or two points, or tied, in the final 24 seconds of regular-season and playoff games since 1996-97, with a minimum of 30 shots. From Alok Pattani of ESPN Stats & Information.
    fga ftm fg%
    Kobe Bryant 36 115 31.3

I hope James Harden becomes a true clutch superstar like Kobr and shoot 30% from the field during clutch situations
