Spot on. Kubiak already did a 9-7 season followed by 6-10. Now 12-4 followed by a whatever this year is going to be should be his undoing.
Damn, this coaching regime cant be gone soon enough. The Kubester has officially lost this team, not that I'm complaining.
Why do people keep repeating this? Just because a team has a bad season doesn't automatically mean the owner doesn't care about winning. There was no reason to fire Kubiak after his team made the playoffs for 2 years in a row.
We have a locker room where rookies feel empowered enough to call out the coaching. Locker Room: LOST Move on already.
Kubiak might of been gone after the 6-10 season, but the lockout may have saved his job. The Texans didn't want to try to bring in a new coach and change everything and implement new systems all with a shortened training camp.
Don't forget, that 9-7 season started 5-7, with an embarrassing home opener against a rookie head coach and QB. If I remember correctly the 8-8 seasons were similar in that the team had a losing record most of the season, only to win a few meaningless games down the stretch to make it look better than it was.
Kubaik isnt' going anywhere..he is a good aggie!!! and the HC of my Houston Texans and will be next year.. Gig Em Coach Kubiak!!
anybody think its funny that both the texans and redskins are both struggling, and both use the same predictable offense pretty much lol
Dude are you serious right now...? this team is the definition of mediocrity, since 2002 this team reached the playoffs only twice, they have one of the most inconsistent teams in the NFL every year due to the bad coaching staff and bad management. Let me ask you question what separate great teams from average teams or bad teams? The answer is having great owner who is willing to gamble and do the necessary changes for his team to succeed, I mean for god's sake we have been one of the worst specials team in the NFL for the past 6 years or and no one has addressed this problem and Joe freaking Marciano still have his job. let me ask another question do you think someone like GaryKubiak would last more than 2 season with owners like james irsay, Robert Kraft or Tom Benson, the answer is no you know why..? because they care about winning and they don't have this loyalty bull****.
The key is having both a great coach and a great QB, and the Texans (if McNair doesn't #### it up) can acquire both this offseason.
Kubiak's beef with Tate was always strange to me, how do you hold a guy getting hurt playing football against him when they are usually different injuries? Hopkins probably got benched because of the instagram issue, but I wouldn't be surprised if it really was just about the one play. Kubiak really hasn't called a lot of plays in Hopkins' direction given his talent outside of spots Andre Johnson was out of the game or they were scared to throw his way and I wasn't really surprise to see Keyshawn Martin return to being a receiving target once Schaub returns since Gary or Matt seem to see something in him and his near 50% receiving that they keep trying to give him the ball.
I wanted him fired as well, but bringing in Wade to coach the defense was a reasonable move and I was happy with it. The Kubiak/Wade combo combined to lead this team to it's two greatest seasons ever. Now their time has passed though and they will move on.
And that's probably the big difference this time around. In 2010, the offense ranked 3rd in yards and 9th in points. The defense was viewed as the problem, not Gary's offense. This time around, the wheels are falling off on the offense as well. If the defense is failing your offensive minded HC, then you can do what Bob did last time and fire the DC. When the offense fails as well, then there's no where else to place the blame. You can blame the offense and special teams for inflating the number of points the "defense" has given up, but it doesn't really work the other way around (maybe special teams a little, if there's not a ST penalty then Case isn't throwing from the endzone and maybe doesn't throw that INT). Bob can't just fire Dennison because that's not going to make a difference. FWIW, in 2010 the defense was #29 in points allowed. This year they're #28.
I hate this team more than I've hated any other Houston sports teams aside from the '98 Rockets post-Barkley injury.
I actually do not hate the players. I absolutely abhor the coaching staff, management, and Schaub. I feel like we have talent and that they are likable enough. I only hate Schaub because Kubiak was so hard headed about him and then he pulled the bull**** with AJ. Perhaps I am delusional but I still believe that we are not far off from being pretty good. Of course, a new QB is essential to that.
