Apparently Beverley was balling in the Dallas game. The 4th quarter score was 101-89. Patrick, with his red hot 2-7 shooting, checked in at the 10 min mark. With his intensive and offensive play he closed out the fourth and guided the Rockets to victo... Oops we lost. We weren't stopping Dallas on D and we weren't out scoring them either. Jeremy has shown he could perform in the fourth, why not give him a chance at the 4 min mark with a 5 point lead. We needed to do something to change the momentum. His play this season should have gave him an opportunity to play at the end.
Maybe we shouldn't conclude anything on one game and he comes back and has a monster game Saturday and strings together a bunch of good games. He wasn't right for that one game, there's no need to get into what's wrong with Lin unless it's for a string of games.
Who care its just one game just move on and let it go already as soon as this team wins everyone will feel better but if they don't fix that defense they wont go far
Just ship out Lin & Asik so we wont have threads like this any more. It's a win-win for all parties involved.
Honestly, McHale shouldn't have let Lin played that much minutes in that game. The Rocket's shouldn't even have been in OT. LoFs didn't praise McHale because LoFs believe that's what Lin deserves: playtime. The LoFHs believe that whatever LoFs is directed to Lin and Lin only. But if LoFHs uses some logic, some of LoFs' claims aren't that unreasonable. McHale's rotation IS bad. Jones didn't get to play until 3 games ago. We still havent seen much of DMo either. Harden plays 40mins for multiple games already despite this is only the 12th game of the season. I don't think McHale trusts his players enough. Lin's fans just happen to be more vocal and active on this board. Last game against Mavs are not fault of Lin. Lin was simply a NON FACTOR. Since we lost to the Mavs only by 3 points and Lin only played 17 mins, YES, I would like to think that if Lin played the final stretch, we MIGHT have enough scoring to win the game. 0/5 isn't bad considering players tend to even out slump through out the game. Lin might make his shots. It's also hard to go for 0/10. At the end of the day, we LOST to Mavs. I think Rockets need to figure out why we lost. The lack of playtime from our best bench scorer definitely played a part in this game.
I'd like to ship out just trade Lin stuff but unfortunately it gets posted. There are trade treads to go to for that sort of stuff that won't just trying to keep getting rid of one of the most consistent and productive players the team has had this season when posters are trying to figure out how to use him to best help the team which he has shown he's capable of doing.
The thing is there wasn't really any individual players to blame here for the loss. It was one of those freak things where Ellis and Dirk got red hot in the fourth and had every bounce going their way, while our offense got frozen in the zone. Could Lin have magically gotten out of his slump and started raining threes? maybe, but that's way more of a gamble to leave him out there than to put back the starting line up who were shooting at a way higher percentage last night. It sucks that we lost, but there are way better things to talk about that game than "HURURU McHale Benched a 0-5 Lin"
everyone can whine for or against but bottomline is, Mchale as the coach, and any boss in any organization for that matter, has the final say. they are human too and have players who they "like" more than others, especially if you are talking about players within a similar range of effectiveness or ability. goes without saying that coaches "love" superstars with off the charts physical skills and obvious talents (Howard and Harden). for players within a certain spectrum of impact to the team, much like in baseball's Wins Above Replacement stat, I think it's really not a big deal to Mchale whether he panders to Lin's sensitivities or not, or gives Beverley more time one game, and less time one game or goes with the hot hand one game, or plays Bev 34 mins even while shooting 1-10 from the field, or rides Parsons 40 mins every game even when he's on a cold streak. For him the other players apart from Howard and Harden are very replaceable, and it's human nature to prefer or be more comfortable with some replaceable players over another. You can study the substitution patterns of all the coaches and see that after the superstars, the next level of players typically have fluctuating playing times, with the favorite ones having less volatile movements. My point is, for LOF, live with it, it's simply reality and whining about it will not make Mchale or non-LOFs move over to your side. Instead, it just makes everyone more repulsed because you treat Lin like a baby instead of the grown man that he is. For LOH, forget the LOFs for a while and see the real picture. It's all right if Mchale does favor Bev, or Parson, and gives them a way longer leash. It's pretty obvious and it's his total prerogative. Denying it only makes LOFs defend their guy even more, which makes you cringe even more, and makes you defend Bev even more, and everyone loses objectivity with their comments.
I agree that the LOF's suck, but if Mchale didn't play his most consistent player of the year 17 minutes then maybe this thread wouldn't be here. In my opinion, that was a very stupid move by Mchale, sometimes it seems like he doesn't have a clue. I'm still pissed about yesterday, Mchale can be such a dumbass.
I agree with you. Last game wasn't a single player problem. And the reason was because of our Coaching staff. Like you said yourself, Dirk and Ellis was red hot and the team wasn't able to make a stop. Could tired legs from our players be one of the reason? MAYBE. I am all against Harden play 40+ minutes this early in the season and it's not the first time. Plus, we were leading 9 points when Lin went to bench. When we played well in preseason and our streak, Lin/Bev played so well together in the fourth quarter. We didn't see that last night at all. Could't it have worked against the Mavs? We dont know. But we did lose the game without trying it. And, Lin didnt need to rain 3s like he did in other games. We never needed him to do anything close to an all star. All Rockets needed was just few buckets which I think he was more than capable of if he played 30 mins like other games. Like good ole Bill Russel used to tell KG. Dont force the game, let the game come to you. Lin couldn't do it last game since he was not in the game for the final stretch. He was simply a non-factor.
Frankly this is the first time, Mchale used this Lineup with Asik. It's not a complete disaster like Twin Towers, but it definitely reduced the offensive punch of the bench. Something needs to be adjusted. This is definitely a step back.
micheal yeah..when harden is get hurt.lin become the first choices of your team.when harden is back. lin become a normal bench player.must play really god damn good to get his minutes.moray said lin is second choices with the offensive?who will treat your second choices with the offensive player like this?lin should ask for trade just like asik.rocket just don't need them
So you're saying that if there was ever a game where Beverley's shooting like crap, playing like crap, but the Rockets are getting destroyed in the 4th quarter with Lin in the game, you would want Beverley to come in, correct?
So you're saying McHale was wrong to keep Lin in that game. Should've benched him for Garcia, correct?
Reality Check: JLin is the main reason we blew the game period. He was worse then useless. Not even in a poutin' Asik way either. I'm always giving him props when he plays the way he can. Unfortunately last night is another example of the way he can also. Harden is a super star, but sometimes plays like a grand ma with a full neck dress on trying to dribble between his legs. yikes ! basketball.
I know. McHale put Lin in so he can do a steal and nail down a 3 to tie the game. Then ISO Harden to win against the Mavs. Since Lin didn't get a steal, he lost the game.
