This data taken from Popcornmachin's Game Flows should halp clarify which players Blew the game. The game was obviously lost in the fourth Quarter.

    Player time on floor in 4th +/- 4th Q

    Asik 2:43 -6
    Garcia 2:43 -6
    Lin 2:43 -6
    Casspi 2:43 -6
    Patrick Beverly 10:17 -15
    Chandler Parsons 9:16 -11
    James Harden 9:16 -11
    Terrence Jones 9:08 -9
    Dwight Howad 9:10 -11

Our starting five failed us big time. Now the question is why.

This exactly. I love this team, I want them to win now but winning takes time and chemistry. We're young - we'll make mistakes. The surest sign of our continued success will be how we bounce back from these close losses.

Poor defense, that is the answer!

    Fourth QTR break down:

The first coupe of minutes till 09:17

    Mavericks 3/6 (FG 50%)

After 09:17 (that is when all bench players were replaced by starters)

    Mavericks 10 / 11 (FG 90.9%)

We took too many 3's. Dallas went into a zone defense. 2 ways to beat that, either shoot lights out from 3 or push the tempo so they don't have time to set up the zone. We did neither.
4th quarters are usually when we stop pushing the ball, and we go to a slow, half court game with Dwight post ups and Harden ISO.

If we pushed the pace a little bit we could get layups and transition FT's, but it was all jumpshots in the half court.

that switch to zone messed with our game plan - we couldn't penetrate or dump the ball off to howard who was having an amazing game. the zone did yield a bunch of wide open 3-pt shots and we just didn't hit them. too much over-analysis here.

Dirk did to us what he does against everyone - hit circus shots that bounce all over the rim and then splash.
Monta did what he does against us - hit mid range jumpers, penetrate at will, and play elite defense.
We missed 3's, layups, free throws.

a talented young team choked the game away on the road. it's frustrating but it's not the end of the world. if Dwight can get his groove back like he did last night, that'll be huge for us going forward.

I hope to God we keep seeing that Dwight. I saw hustle and heart for the first time in a long time. Promising.

You can just change Carlisle name to Coach X because that happens in every game.

are you serious or just trolling?

It' clear that he is unhappy and not motivated like last season but you can't blame him. stupid comment.

by the way, 5 rebounds and 1 block in 12 minutes is not bad.

we lost clearly because . . . the Mavericks scored 123 points while we only scored 120. Clearly we ended up with fewer points than our opponent.

We clearly lost because this team still believes it can win games solely on the offensive end.

I am glad we lost this game given its early in the season and it may serve as a wake up call to this misplaced philosophy.

On one play alone, I watched Harden try to go around his man for the steal, failed, didn't move an inch and just watched him coast to the basket.

    Coaching.
Lack of defensive adjustments either going zone or bringing in Brewer.
Our offense relies heavily on pushing pace and individual talent. When the game slows down in the fourth, our coaching staff has no creative set plays for our players to execute in a half court set.

    Totally agree

NO effort whatsoever. Bad passes loose rebounds. And can't even finish still at the rim. And now not even defending. It's like just sit him till we have a trade. He clearly won't give any effort when he is on the court till he is traded.

That's so unprofessional of him. I Thot of him as a good player and professional. Always showing his effort and play thru his play on the court and not with words. I was wrong I guess he was just shy and afraid to speak in front of the cameras

How the heck does Dwight have no post game and Boris Diaw can do this?
