you would think he has built up enough equity with the coaching staff to be allowed to play through slow starts

The Nowitzki-Ellis combo is looking like a killer. Like Cuban said, the jury is still out on whether Ellis or Howard is going to be the better pick-up. But, there is no doubt that both teams landed huge impact players. The impact of Ellis might be more than Dwight because he can score lights out. Combine that with Dirk and they are going to win a lot of games. They could end up with a better record than we end up with. The Rockets let them stay in the game and paid the price for it in the end. The Rockets are still trying to find that killer instinct because they just don't have it right now.

Of course the Mavs will end up with a better record than the Rockets. They have a better coach and actually can close on game.

The Mavs made eleven straight jump shots, many of which were contested, and a bunch of which were long to medium 2's during their 13-shot-in a row run. They only made 2 close range shots and only had 3 free throws.

That's just really terrible luck for the Rockets more so than horrid defense.

The problem is simply the Defense and it goes all the way to last year as well. Drives me insane to see defenders blow by for an easy lay up.

Last night's game should be considered as the first game of this season. This is the team for this season. The 5 starters will start for the rest of the season, let's see how well this team will do.

Some of it was bad luck, like the Dirk shots that bounced in. But most of it was poor defensive strategy. Why did the Rockets never double-team Dirk and get the ball out of his hands? Make Marion or Carter beat you. Notice how the Mavs would not allow Dwight or Harden to get off uncontested shots in the 4th?

And how come the Rockets kept switching on Dirk which left Bev who's nearly a foot shorter guarding him? It happened more than once, so you can't chalk that up to a blown defensive assignment. They did that intentionally.

so your starting PG is averaging 9 pts and 2 assists on 41% shooting. Sounds like a plan.

LOL, it's not my plan. It's just based on my observation and understanding of Mchale's coaching, this is the way he will coach this team. He has abandoned the twin tower experiment, he has found his perfect PG and center. And sent Lin and Asik to the bench.

The Rockets lost because Harden and Lin didn't have enough turnovers... Lol... Funny that they had a great game of not turning the ball over and the team lost...

Dallas is just a veteran team period that's what good veteran teams do it's not like Dallas is some scrub team they added Ellis who is surrounded by veterans especially with dirk that's a easy plug in so they can make it work right away but we have added two players last two seasons in harden and dwight and they are surrounded by young players so it's going to be a more difficult transition of course we had that game and let it slip away slowly so we just need to execute better and close games out

looks like McHale did read my posts here. he changed his substitution pattern dramatically. he tried to prove me wrong instead caring about a win.

I don't blame him on his sub pattern. it should be like the last night in the past games. the starters should play majority minutes. as a head coach, you make the decision on who starts. he should have confidence on them. otherwise, why picks them to start. the backups, including lin, should not play more than 25 min at most.

with his new substitution pattern, lin coming off the bench will play more time with the backup and less time with harden. it make sense to assume lin and harden overlap too much and the bench needs offense sparks.

Lin coming off the bench doesn't equate to less time with Harden. Harden plays 40+ minutes a game.

As I said - the Rockets could have played better on defense, but by and large they shut down the middle, got back in transition, and forced the Mavericks to take long 2's and 3's, and they hit them to a degree that's statistically *incredibly* unlikely - I doubt any team hits 13-13 (with 11 of the 13 being jumpers) ever again this season.

And LMFAO at the LOF's still trying to make this game/loss about Lin.

You guys are un-****ing-bearable. Lin wasn't the reason for the loss, but he wasn't helping anybody win out there either which is glarlingly obvious.
