If you let a team score 36 points in the 4th qtr what results were you expecting? I give you the Mavs got hot, but some defensive sequences was frustrating to watch. The mavs managed to get a screen and you end up with Beverley guarding Dirk who simply shoots over him. No matter how good a defender is that height mismatch is going to hurt.

Back to back wasn't it? Everyone gassed. 9 man rotation instead of 10, 11 Garcia has been bad. Casspi went from phenomenal to serviceable.
We lost this game, and most of these games mainly because a. This team does not have a superstar. Harden and Howard are top 15 players, but they're not at that top tier level of Lebron, CP3, Durant. Watch any of those guys play, and just watch how they carry their teams. They just pull out wins. Howard and Harden are very good players, but there's a big separation between them and those top three. Hell, Anthony Davis might be better then H or H. b. Our coach isn't good enough to make up for the lack of Lebron, CP3, Durant. The Spurs and Pacers have very good players. Guys who are top 25 players, Duncan, Parker, George, Hibbert. But none of those guys are top tier. They have limitations, and they aren't better than H or H. What they have is better coaches. Hell, watch Rick Carlisle turn Monta Ellis from an overrated, unpleasant ballchucker into a borderline all-star. Coaching matters more when your players are less capable of making elite plays. That said, we still have alot of potential. As for defense, our guys wouldn't look this bad, if we had a better defensive gameplan. Stan Van Gundy turned a team of Jameer Nelson, JJ Redick, Courtney Lee, Rafer Alston, Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu, Jameer Nelson, and Dwight into having the #1 defensive rating. How many of those guys were known as even average defenders? That team went to the finals on 3pt shooting and defense. It's still early, but I expect team defense to be a year long problem. I think McHale gets the whole year to prove what he can do, and I'm not optimistic. Our perimeter guys need to give better effort on defense. Harden needs to pass the ball more early in the shot clock, he'll get it back. Lin needs to look for his shot more, he continues to hurt the team by passing up good looks from 3.
We lost because we can't play a lick of defense. Amazingly, if Dwight hadn't brain-farted that silly T, if Haren had made one more FT, if Lin had made one shot...
LIn played 17 minutes. Not much time to help the cause. He had very few touches during his time on the floor.
Back to back games.....just a guess team defence needs improvement. Our 3pt defence is bad but still early enough to be fixed. Trade Asik before he kills team chemistry.
