IF Melo goes on the trade block, should the Rockets get him?

Honestly, I wouldn't bet against LBJ regardless.

Although I'd make an argument it might be closer than you think since Dwight could exploit their biggest weakness: interior presence. Let's say Indy knocks off the Heat, we'd matchup better against their interior with Melo and Dwight.

Not saying Harden/Melo/Howard would be ideal, just saying it'd be an upgrade over what we have now. But like I said, ain't gonna happen.

And I would argue that Miami would just stick LBJ on Melo. Melo (or anybody else on the Rockets team) would not even slow down LBJ and LBJ would shut Melo down. Not to mention PG would become a weak spot if Lin were traded and not having Asik behind Howard would lead to a Wa(d)ve of points.

Watch our D goes from bad to worse then. We literally have no D at the 2 and 3.

Without Melo, wouldn't LBJ and Wade just take turns guarding Harden then? That's a pretty scary proposition..

And actually, when LBJ and Melo matchup, Melo usually still gets his (even if his team doesn't):

    (scroll down to Head-to-Head stats)

As for Lin, Chalmers and Noles took turns terrorizing him whenever they played (it hurts to say this as someone who believes in Lin, but it's true.. hopefully this year's improved Lin doesn't fare the same)

And Asik doesn't look like he'll be a part of Houston's future regardless.

Although it doesn't really matter, since I already stated I'd bet on LBJ..

He will leave in free agency and no why in the world would you want another ball stopper?

    HELLZ NO.

We do not need another ballhog on the team. Melo would be the cancer for team chemistry.

Not to mention I still hate him for knocking out my Longhorns with LMA from the Final Four.:mad::mad:

Melo all the way. Way more efficient scorer.

    Melo is a ball hog.
He does not believe in team BB or sharing the spotlight with others.

He's basically a cancer in any team he plays in. That's why as soon
as Denver traded him their season improved.

Moral of the story, don't ever "build around a star." Every team that has done that has failed to retain said star. Lebron, Dwight, Melo if this keeps up. Build the best team possible and win and the stars will stay.

On topic, yes, I'd trade for Melo. The outgoing pieces would have to be Lin, Asik(likely lands elsewhere in a 3-way), and some amount of 1st rounders only. Lin and Asik are basically necessary in any Melo trade to match salary.

St Elmo's Fire rules CF again! I can see it now. Melo (0.76 PPP isolation) takes all of the iso's from Harden (1.03 PPP isolation). Howard is marginalized by the lack of touches because of Melo and Harden's ball dominance. Jones gets wrecked by any halfway decent PF in the playoffs. No Lin, a black hole at PG. No Parsons, no Asik no bench. That team might not make it out of the second round in the West. It would certainly get its rear end handed to them by the Heat.
