I hope mainstream Rockets fans aren't associated with extremists like you and larsv8. You guys must maintain a loop of providing rep to one another. Way to game the system and deceive most of us....

 

This larsv8 guy is basically the epitome of a tunnel vision Harden fanboy. No amount of data, even presented in a balanced and fair way, will sway him.

I really do think that he contributes nothing constructive, even from an opposing viewpoint, to this board.

You do know it's not possible to create a "rep loop" right? Heard of "must spread some reputation around before giving it to X person again?"

Harden plays defense when it pleases him (i.e. playoffs). As long as we finish with a high seed regardless, I'm absolutely fine with that.

Torocan wasn't manipulating statistics. He was not caveating and footnoting every nuance, but the general idea that Lin has better +/- in lineups he is used in vs Beverley in lineups he is used in is accurate.

That is a good and valid point. It could have been expressed earlier in a less confrontational way. It's admittedly harder to do in the Lin battles.

Decisions have to be made at some point. You can't collect data for half a year before you start trying to win games.

You claimed, with apparent sarcasm but who knows anymore, that you thought torocan was one of the good posters at the end of your first post responding to him.

Sample size is small. Opposing lineups matter. Best +/- for Lin lineups were used against opposing lineups where bigs were out, so not a good example for starting lineups. These are good arguments, and could have been made without getting into a battle.

 

"Selective bias" is such a nice phrase. Calling someone a racist has never been so easy!

 

Maybe, but I don't really care about racism or any allegedly "racial" treatment of Lin. If anything, I would see any "racist" treatment of Lin as a plus for him in the long term. Adversity toughens the mind and heart. There is a Chinese saying: the strongest steel is forged by the hottest fire. I'd rather Lin be mentally strong than mentally weak. And if there is any "racist" treatment of him, then yeah, its a good forging source for him. He will be a much stronger person at the end of the day.

So frankly, racism isn't even a factor in my eyes.

If you want to disprove someone's argument, then post your reasons. Don't go around making blatantly false and dishonest accusations.

They can, however, every few days, even for posts that have completely no meaning whatsoever. And there is just no way someone like Larsv8 (with his awful posting) can get that much rep unless he had a clique sharing his opinions backing him up

I also have no need to disprove any argument in here. Torocan has made Larsv8 look dumb and silly multiple times already with posts that were backed up with stats and well-reasoned arguments (and in the process, exposed Larsv8's flip-flopping and hypocrisy), but not only does he (larsv8) not get the message, he accuses (several times in fact) a fair and reasonable poster of having a bias. If this is not stupidity to the extreme, than I do not know what is. So he's on my ignore list and he is welcome to put me on his.

And on that note, I am ending this conversation with you as well. You are welcome to have the last word if you want to.

Am into my thirties too. But most importantly, you may have been a Rockets fans longer than me, but that doesn't make you a better person and poster on this board anyway.
