If the Rockets were in the East....

    Where would we be?

If you ask me, we would be the best team in the East. Of the four "beasts" going into the season (Milwaukee, Miami, Indiana, New York), we've beaten 3, 2 on the road. We would have the best center, top 5 power forward, number 1 or 2 point guard, and possibly best bench anchored by the best sixth man.

It would be ours for the taking. And the worst part is we could be in the East. Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit are all in our time zone in the East. How bout trading those three for the three Texas teams?

Probably Louisville, but that is a sad thought, and Jeff squashed that anyhow.

Last year, the Rockets would have been about the fourth seed, behind NY, Miami, and Indy. This year, they would most certainly be number one in the conference. Although Philly is playing well, I don't think they would finish above Houston. Wasn't Houston in the Eastern conference about 25 years ago? How about moving them back.

Considering the Rockets were 11-19 against the East last year, I find it difficult to believe they would have been the 4th seed.

The Rockets are 9-7 in the West. That is a win percentage of .563 which places us in 8th place in the West or 5th in the East (tied with Toronto).

If the Rockets were in the East I believe we would have one more win minimum (Portland game) and maybe two more (Portland and LA games). That would give us a record of either 10-6 or 11-5 with a win percentage of .625 or .688. Either way we would be in 2nd place in the East.

We would be in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Rockets, so far, are doing much better against the East this year, but to say they would be the number one seed is a gross underestimation of the east. I realize the teams in that conference are comparatively weak, but there is no way in hell the rockets would end up better than the Sixers. I would expect them to be a 4th seed if they were in the East.

Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit are all in our time zone in the East."

Of those, only Chicago is in Houston's Central Standard Time zone. Milwaukee, however, is in CST time.

As for Houston's place in the East, its tough to say they would be the best team, but they would be among the 6 or 7 teams who have a legitimate chance of taking the conference. To be honest though, our lack of experience would stop us from going anywhere past the 2nd round.

Is the east time zone that big? It really covers Detroit and Cleveland? Damn

If the Rockets had been in the east all of last year, they would have fared much better than 11-19.

Eastern Conference Power Forwards in no particular order that I consider better than Taylor:

    Henderson........Atlanta
    Mason or Grant...Miami
    Brand............Chicago
    B Wallace........Detroit
    K Martin.........NJ
    Davis or Oakley..Tor
    Ratliff or Hill..Phil

    Comparable to Mo:

    Crosche..........Indy
    L Johnson........NY
    Weatherspoon.....Cle
    Walker...........Boston

Due to injuries, some are playing the 5 spot instead of their customary 4.
