I wouldn't fault Harden for wanting to come here and have a leading role. It's natural for a young talented player to have ambitions. I'm sure his thought process is, "am I good enough to lead my own team?" For Jeremy as well, if he continues to play at his current level, he'll eventually outgrow his 6th man and go elsewhere where he can be the lead guard.

"It was a blow to Jeremy, a big blow," the source said, "because he definitely wanted to start. But he rebounded pretty quickly and realized this would allow him some time away from Harden and more freedom with the ball."

Seems like context matters a lot...

It is not Jeremy then. There are all kinds of fans. No one can control what everyone thinks. I think Jeremy should be appreciated for being team first. Not every player would be like him. In terms of who should be on the starting unit, I think Jeremy should be in the starting lineup because if he and James can work out with sharing the ball, it will still be the most lethal combination. Jeremy can still play with the 2nd unit by staging time. Not sure why the coach would not do that. But it is not worthy arguing about things in the past. The fact is that Jeremy played well either way, regardless what is given to him. For that reason, he should be appreciated for being flexible and team first. I think the team will learn that Jeremy should be in the starting line up. Maybe next year, he will return to the starting lineup.

It's obvious based on Lin's performance that if he maintains it he'll be a bonafide starter anywhere in the league and a very good one too. The problem in Houston is we already have a really good PG in James Harden, and because of overlapping skills, Lin has been relegated to the bench (for fit, not because he was benched). In that way then, the Asik/Howard situation is similar to Lin/Harden, except McHale can give Lin starter minutes, but not Asik. That might be the difference in why Lin & Asik are approaching their changed status in Houston differently.

Here is the problem. Several sources point to Lin being unhappy. Being unhappy leads to chemistry problems and i can clearly tell this year's team is not gelling like last year's. Something seems to be off.

Do you want to risk potentially losing an important cog to free agency for probably the worst starting point guard in the league?

If Lin sucked and lost starting job due to merit, then fine. But evidence points to Lin being demoted by mchale even before pre-season started. All that hard work just to be supplanted by the coach.

Lin did fantastic during his 4 starts so I don't buy he is doing well off the bench bs. Already lost Lowry and Asik due to starting issues, and the rockets continues down the same path. Mind boggling.

Jeremy has already stated in interviews that he would rather start, but he also said he looks at other things as well such as minutes on the floor and who closes. He will act professional and still try his best when he's on the floor, cuz he's Lin. Other then that, I don't think even Lin knows what his plans are. I guess we will all find out once his contract has ended.

You get offered a starting job on a team that caters to you vs coming off the bench as a second string on harden's team, the choice is a no brainer. The whole situation can still be salvaged, but it's up to mchale.

Beverley is not the worst starting point guard in the league. That's Felton or someone else. Beverley can play good defense and knock down the open three, which is his main role.

Beverly defense is overrated, his three ball is MIA this season and he can't playmake. That's a bench player starting on a supposedly championship team.

i feel like hes more liberated now that he gets to handle the ball more and take some shots coming off he bench i think this is working for both lin and the team its obvious that kevin mchale trusts him more than he did last year. as a LOF im really happy for him and i think kevin is a brilliant coach

Lin's way of handling come off the bench is making Asik look really bad right now..

He's coming back from injury. Give it more than 11 games. I think he can and will improve. If the team keeps winning and meets expectations with Bev starting, then so be it.

Asik has asked for a trade since July. The Rockets didn't do anything for four months.

Who can say with certainly that Jeremy will accept his current role forever? Who knows for sure there's not a time bomb ticking?

Championship is the goal. This team is win now. There is no time for developing role players.

Norris Cole was a huge contributor for the Miami Heat when he was a rookie. Bev will be fine. You're being way too harsh on someone who is getting paid 500000

Asik is at least getting what he wants and soon. Or he could bottle it up like Lin and cry about the thought of losing his starting job in private like he said this summer. Could be another miserable year just like last year for Lin.

Norris cole is a bench player just like Bev. Bev can contribute just like cole did. Bev does not have the talents to be a starting pg in the nba.
