It's not fair to compare Lin and Asik. Lin's role was actually never reduced, and one could argue that by coming off the bench, his role actually increased. He didn't lose minutes, touches, etc. He only lost the status as a starter.

Asik, on the other hand, has been reduced to playing maybe 10-15 minutes a game.

I have no sympathy for Asik. You're a freaking millionaire. Be a professional and do your job!! You WILL be traded, but the fact that this has blown up in the media is ridiculous and is drama this young team doesn't need. I lost ALL respect for Asik. Good riddens.

A couple big what ifs that would make this team so much better.

What if the Bucks took White and Henson slid to the Rockets?

What if the Rockets took Zeller instead of White?

In the former you have a really good young piece to either play at the 4 (although certainly not a stretch) or trade with Asik for an enormous upgrade and you still keep D-Mo and Jones around as trade fodder or backups.

With the latter you could have a solid backup C, so that the Asik trade is solely focused on getting the best piece possible for Asik without worrying about the backup 5.

Haven't read through the entire thread, but I saw a couple posts stating that "all Asik wants to do is start". This isn't the whole truth especially if he has been asking for a trade every week. He was starting, but I guess that wasn't enough. He saw the writing on the wall that Twin Towers would not work. I understand the frustration but be a professional.

I see your point, but to answer your 2 questions:

Which present lotto team won't make the playoffs after a trade for Asik?
    Jazz, Kings, Nets & Wizards

Which present lotto team won't get better after a trade for Asik?
    Memphis, Jazz, Kings & Pistons

Now, here's what I think you were really getting at. My list of teams that won't entertain the idea of a trade for Asik are:
Memphis, Jazz, Kings, Nets, Pacers, Bulls & Spurs

EXACTLY! Are the checks still clearin? Then STFU and do yer job! Talkin about harming his value for his next contract? Acting like a wussy little girl certainly doesn't help his cause! He and his idiot agent should know full well he's gonna get the opportunity to 'showcase his talent' as a starter on another team prior to his next contract negotiation - so this is just all unnecessary immature jilted lover angst! Once again, if the checks a clearin' - STFU and play ball!

Maybe Omer is worried that if he plays too well, that will convince the Rockets not to trade him and he'll be stuck in a limited backup role for the remainder of his contract. He's kind of in a lose-lose situation.

That is a possibility, but that would also make Asik one of the most selfish players this team has ever had.

I understand his frustration, but when you are getting paid to play basketball, the right choice during these types of events should always still be doing job. It would be extremely selfish of Omer if he knew this team needed him, but he refuses to play/play well so that he could force his way to another team.

Either way, Omer is not handling this professionally. Quite disappointing considering how good he was for us last season and now he basically turned his back on the team.

You have to wonder if the TT experiment failed partly due to Asik's attitude.

Although i like Anderson and Ilyasova, i hate the thought of win now mode. It ruined us with T-Mac and Yao. I'd much rather get a draft pick in this deep draft.

The alleged news that Asik has asked to be traded every week since acquiring Howard suggests your point may have played a part, yes.

The response from the Rockets fan base is predictably stupid. C'mon, people.

Morey has been shopping Asik ever since Houston signed D. Howard. Asik was inevitably going to be traded whether he "demanded a trade" or not. This should be obvious.

Asik's response to the situation is normal, and predictable. It is just incredibly stupid to demonize the guy.

Also, it is HIGHLY probable that Asik is getting DNPs because a) Houston is protecting its investment (i.e., they don't want him to get hurt, which kills his trade value) and b) Houston wants to experiment with in-house backup C options, so they know if it's necessary to acquire a replacement backup C. It is HIGHLY doubtful that the DNPs are happening because of insubordination, or punishment. People who think that the DNPs are due to insubordination/punishment are extremely naive.

Don't be so stupid, people. Thank the man for a job well done and wish him well. Jesus!
