nothing compared to the construction along I-10

and most of the downtown residential stuff is due to the subsidies that the city is now offering

Assuming they were sweeping the highway, restricted work hours (contractors have to pay a Lane Assessment Fee) 5am to 9pm and 3pm to 7pm. Daytime work hours are from 9am to 3pm and nighttime work hours are from 7pm to 12am.

Didn't cost 3 billion either, 1/10 of the price. And offered an alternative mode of transportation.

And the start of a system of alternative transportation.

Also, the rail line allowed buses that previously used main street and streets parallel to it to cease and those buses were used for other routes.

For this I would say, only move over to the left exit lane once it becomes dashed. The bigges problem on the freeways are drivers driving at random speeds in all the lanes. if everyone followed the rule of each lane to the left passes cars on its right, then there would not be any traffic unless its rush hour. also people leave like less than a car to only car gap a lot of the times. you should be leaving like a four to fiv car cap at the very least. I love getting into a pack of good drivers because the difference is so noticeable for the few miles we can enjoy it, until we reach the next pack of dumb drivers.

I doubt it. I mean, how much development came from the eastex freeway expansion, except faster commute times from Humble and Kingwood? You are not going to get much of anything on 45, except for around Exxon, but that's because of Exxon. Everything else is concentrated in the woodlands. The energy corridor has been building up over time since the 70s. The west side had always been the most prosperous side of Houston. The growth was already there and more was coming.
