I think we'll see enough of his post up after 10 years, not just a few weeks. I have no idea how Orlando managed to go to final with him posting up. Must be the weakest eastern conference in recent history.
My game time observations from last night show a guy who's like my old Kawasaki 2-stroke triple; great on a straight line but shaky in the corners. Du-wight, as stated previously, wants desperately to be a post-up pivot but he does not use his opponent's force against him, and thus looks clumsy and unaccomplished in the paint when trying to make his moves. Shaq and Chuck both re-iterated their pessimism about his being able to develop a go-to move by this point in his career, and they don't suggest it has anything to do with a physiological limitation. He may have a latent/passive-aggressive refusal to develop a mental/psychological approach to improvement, and thus will continue to hammer that square peg into the round hole, time and time again. Steve Francis, anyone?
He faced a lot of weak competition in the east with Orlando but when they played L.A. in the finals and faced Gasol and a young Bynum in the finals _ he looked exactly like he did last night.
That's why Yao Ming thinks a 4 that can set good screens and has a respectable mid-range game and is willing and good at doing some dirty work, such as Scola, would be a great asset to this team.
He shouldn't be so stubborn. He is still the no.1 center but he will become a joke if he still wants to show the world that he is the successor of Dream. That doesn't mean that he shouldn't post up but he should do more different things! He can add two simple things: PnR and Post-Up with passing to the shooters (his assists will increase dramatically!) But the same thing over and over again ...
He's had 10 years in the league to polish his post-up game yet it is still rudimentary. Besides, I'm not sayin' he should entirely give up the post-up game, just mix it up more, make it unpredictable for opposing teams, and Dwight is the one that will ultimately get credit and results that have always eluded him.
Back then the Eastern Conference was also known as the LEASTERN Conference, if you forgot about that. This is the wild wild West, things have changed brah.
Are they really trying to let him work it out or trying to let him see the error of his ways or just trying to pacify him?
