I'd like to hear a list of all these players that can give you 16/7 with a ts% of 59 and a PER of 21. Anderson was a beast next to Howard in Orlando. I'm not in love with him but he would be a good fit and there aren't a lot of players in the league that can do what he does.
I think Morey will wait till the deadline. He is waiting to see if a big name becomes available and he would need Asik's cap figure for any LMA trade. Last thing you would want is to make a quick trade for Milsap only for LMA to become available at the deadline or in the offseason and then not have the pieces to get it done. I see no imminent trade.
This is actually a reasonable scenario that makes a lot of sense. I think you'd have to throw in Brewer for salary matching, but still. Hawes could get some time both alongside Howard (floor spacer) and backing him up. Turner could be a dynamic third shot-creator. If it flops out, you have around $10MM in cap space. If by some crazy, fantastical stretch Melo wants to come here or something, you can S&T Lin for him at $18-20MM.
I wish, but I seriously don't think so. Also, gotta say, the espn insider piece had bad suggestions and bad info. It said that the Pels have the cap space for Asik's balloon in salary, but the balloon in salary does not change his cap hit, so that is a non issue. The Thunder trade made no sense for Houston, or OKC either really. The Spurs trade would be a bad idea for Houston too (really don't want to send Asik to someone we will be facing in the playoffs). One suggestion that I think should get brought up is Bosh. I think he is more obtainable than LMA, and fits as well if not better next to Howard. I am not a huge fan of his, but his fit on this roster as a legitimate 4 who can stretch the floor and fill in some at the 5 is undeniable. The Heat are starting slow anyway, and Asik would really help them against some of the teams in the east, especially the Pacers -- who really gave them a challenge in the playoffs last year, and who look even better this year.
Centers like him are so rare in the league that he could have much better offers and playing time on another team so it's easy to understand why he would feel this way.
I can't take this Kaiser guy seriously. First, the OKC deal is stupid. Who does he think we are, Presti? Morey doesn't want to help the OTHER team out. Second, the fact that he doesn't understand how the cba/salaries work troubles me. New Orleans wouldn't need the "cap flexibility" to match Asik's ~$15M salary in Yr 3...they only need $8.3M in cap room. The owner will just be paying Asik $15M out of pocket.
Incorrect. The thing to focus on with trades is the NBA's 150% rule. Meaning if you are over the cap(which they are) and under the tax(which they are), then you can trade for up to 150% of the outgoing salary. So to trade for LMA the Rockets would need to add an additional small salary to Asik to get within 150%. One of Terrence Jones, D-Mo, or Brewer/Garcia(after Dec 15th) will be able to get the Rockets to 150%. If the Rockets traded for LMA with this deal they would be around 67.5 in total salaries which is still under the Luxury tax bill.
The best evidence that Houston cannot get the likes of Kevin Love or eve Lamarcus Aldridge for an Omer Asik-centered package is, of course, the fact that it has not happened. The fact that Asik's value isn't what Daryl Morey would like it to be is also demonstrated by the fact that he's still on the roster. As I have pointed out before, many Rockets fans will be disappointed by what Houston gets for Asik. Please stop blabbering about Love and Aldridge and Chris Bosh. Here are your realistic targets: Ersan Ilyasova Amir Johnson Spencer Hawes The deal will likely be a three-way, with one of these three headed to Houston, picks/expirings to Milwaukee or Toronto or Philly, and Asik headed to a mystery third team. Asik > Hawes, so Houston would get something else there, maybe Evan Turner. Jeremy Lin's trade value has skyrocketed, which must thrill Daryl Morey, so he may wind up getting moved, as well. As well as he is playing, he's still a backup who gets paid $15 mil next season. Way too much money for a sixth man.
We should keep Asik and trade Howard for LMA or Love... And get out of this mistake of signing him in the first place... It's only a matter of time before Howard starts complaining because eventually Harden and Lin will stop making it their priority to try to get him the ball... As they did last night.
Ilyasova is an overpaid scrub. Seriously, why is everyone so obsessed over these overrated scrub players?
Really? Spectacular for this season? I would say Very Good. Maybe spectacular for certain portions of certain games. I would not say spectacular THIS season.
Millsap is the best short term fix and is contract expires when Love and LMA enter free agency in 2015
I wish Asik can swallow his ego a bit and come off the bench. Lin did it this season, why couldn't he? Morey is gonna have hard time getting a complete all around PF for Asik. He's great on defense but liability on offense. I don't know if any team would give up their good big men for Asik's half game.
