The folks talking about how poor an offensive coach JVG was must have completely forgotten the end run of the 04-05 season, when we had Wesley, Sura, Barry, James and were out there running and gunning. When we had good offensive personnel under JVG, the offense was good. Just so happened we only had good offensive players around Yao and TMac for that brief period of time.

That being said, PLENTY of people absolutely hated JVG when he was here, in fact, just as many, if not more, than hate McHale now. Guy definitely had his shortcomings. It's ridiculous to be wanting a new coach anyway when we're 2 crazy threes away from a 7-2 record. Just give the team some damn time.

Clutchfans only start liking coaches after they are fired because the current coach always sux

I remember when people wanted Rick Adelman fired because he wouldn't play terrence williams of all people..

people take good coaches for granted here. Let's be honest you can nitpick about every coach in the NBA, when the problems with this coach is gone, there willl be problems from the next coach

The Rockets had the second best coach in the NBA (second only to POP)... and it wasn't JVG.

Adelman is the guy we should have kept...but those bridges are burned now.

How about the better Van Gundy, Stan? He can coach defense AND offense, coached Howard into a top 2 player, and coached a team of young misfits into an upset of Lebron's best Cavs teams that went to the finals.

We should try to find and promote an assistant coach. Like Celtics/Bulls found Tom Thibodeau.

    ah, so true.

Let's don't pull the plug yet (remember the Lakers last season???), let's give this some time. Might see a trade or players get well. Who knows, once we get a couple wins, everyone will be happy and chemistry will better.

ps Maybe that tight chemistry is why all these players got sick at the same time.. jk

JVG is good at defense, but going after the same group of former coaches isn't the only answer. What about what the Celtics did, go and get some really young talented coach? Getting JVG reminds me of the NFL where the same old guys keep getting jobs even though they never win championships, and where there are probably talented NBA assistants or college coaches who could really make an impact

The stigma of JVG being an only defense and slow the ball down coach will always be around, no matter how false it actually is. It's pretty comical really.

But yeah people will complain no matter who the coach is or what's happening.

Your memory isnt very well. JVG INVITED these old azz washed up players because they fit his "system". He only trusted the Ryan Bowen esq type players who played hard but had absolutely no offensive game whatsoever. The Rockets only brought in these guys because that's who JVG trusted. (Mark Jackson, Charlie Ward, Charles Oakley, Vin Baker, Mark Brunson lol). In no way shape, form or fashion is JVG built to coach a young team that scores lots of points and has lots of possessions on offense.

His whole tenure here he never showed any patients with developing young talent:rolleyes:

I wish that we could get JVG to coach this team. Don't see it happening this year though! Maybe next year or two years down the line.

As a person who never thought Patrick Ewing was a very good offensive player, I can say he is LIGHT YEARS ahead of Dwight on the offensive side of the ball.

Best post in the thread. Newbs don't understand or Tracy Fans totally forgot about this.

Tracy fans = whining and crying like todlers at the mall about bad teammates and love JVG, absolutely ignorant that the role players (all those ex-Knicks) are all JVG's guys

Newbs = people forgot how slow and boring and repetitive his offense was. Also don't realize that Mike D'Antoni's Phoenix's Suns use to cream us

For people who say JVG, they don't know or they never knew

I take it that you were not a Rockets fan when JVG was the coach here.
