Here's someone who appreciates JLin's shooting performance. He must have seen all my tweets burning Lin's defense and felt the need to point out a positive.

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>the work <a href="https://twitter.com/JLin7">@JLin7</a> put in this off-season on his shot is impressive <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23staypositive&amp;src=hash">#staypositive</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23keepworking&amp;src=hash">#keepworking</a></p>&mdash; Daryl Morey (@dmorey) <a href="https://twitter.com/dmorey/statuses/400861511507132417">November 14, 2013</a></blockquote>

I agree to a certain degree. But if he sat Lin the entire 4th when he was as hot as he was, Les would've fired him before the trading deadline. The correct coaching strategy would've been to sit him down and give him rest (duh) and a talking to for several minutes. We all know Lin has a tendency to commit turnovers when he's tired, and even if Lin wanted to play the entire 4th, Mac should've told him to take a breather.

You have to know that when James Anderson puts up 36 on you (including the biggest shot of the night), there is going to be outrage.

I don't see why anyone is surprised. Especially in light of the fact that the Rockets have been victimized in similar fashion a few times already in this young season.
Sure Anderson played over his head, but I think that highlights the team's weakness even more. Teams know Harden and Lin are notoriously poor defenders and even the scrubs are going to be gearing up to go at them.
Lin made an effort at times, including that game tying three, but at other times his defense was either lackluster or nonexistent.
He and Harden simply have to do better.

Oh please, do you think people would not go go insane about Harden's defense and turnovers had the Rockets LOST the game? (People did call out his flaws in the game against the Blazers by the way, such as his tendency to ball stop, lose his man or turn over the ball).

Or are you really that blind that you think people never call out Harden for his turnovers and bad defense.

Maybe you should revisit that thread if you think Harden was given a pass that game. The only difference is we won the game so there is less complaining.

Bad TO's. But offensively, Lin's offseason work on his 3pm has been paying off:

If the Rockets had won, I'm sure there would be less drama but still drama even if Lin had just 3 or 4 TOs. That Toronto game, even the announcers, were talking about Lin's TOs even though Harden had more. I think of it this way...Anderson was a 20th pick....Jeremy Lin...a nobody. If you look at the stats...34 points and 12assist looks way better than 36 points and 0 assists (even with the 8 TOs). However, glory goes to the winner.....

A lot of people here seem to want to point the finger at one or two guys to explain our defensive struggles. Harden is the most sought after target, but Lin is getting a lot of flack today too.

Guys, defense is not an individual thing, it is a TEAM thing. Defense comes from good coaching, and I have been very disappointed in our defense as a team thus far this year. Anyone can play good defense, but if a coach can't get his guys to play some defense, there will be problems.

The whole team is just not giving a damn on that end of the floor, and it's very frustrating.

I don't see the point in arguing over word choice. Fantastic or just great wtv doesn't really matter. The beat writers were calling him sensational. Was he fantastic? That is subjective. But him and Dh12 I would say were the best players out there for the team.

Both bev and Lin guarded Anderson fantastically well on that YOLO shot. Anderson was just lucky tonight. But I do agree with you that his D wasn't as good as it could have been.

I agree with this. I for one always call out Harden for his D but it is his effort I take issue with not the ability. parsons hasn't been great on D either but I don't say anything cause I see the effort. Harden I only see the effort if he is playing a big name player.

Perimeter defense is just porous. Also why keep putting a 6-3 Lin against a 6-6 Anderson, who was on fire. You could tell Anderson didn't give a **** about Lin and either bullied him down into the paint or just shot over him.

Play Bev for far less mins and longer breather for Lin, one mismatch is better than two mismatch, blame Mchale for this.

Agreed. You look at your best players on the court today for Houston (Bev, Lin, Parsons, Howard)...their direct counterparts scored as much as they did. It wasn't like Hawes or Turner scored 0 points on either Parsons or Howard. Face it, Houston loss as a team today....bad TOs, poor 3 shootings, and the usual poor FT shootings. Only people that can't really analyze the game would put the loss strictly on Lin's D for this game.

That was what I was saying but apparently Wroten was a mismatch.

Hindsight is 20/20 but don't we have a good defensive stopper? I remember last season Francisco Garcia 6-7 played good D against Durant in the Playoffs.

Way to construe my words and meaning. Neither did I say that no one calls out Harden, nor did I intend that Harden always gets the pass.

I merely illustrated the amount of double standards people here have, something which you denied although it is pretty clear that Lin takes more of the vitriol regardless of how good (or bad) he does, that people expect more from him even though he is the bench player and not the superstar. Such is the extent of how polarising his image and name is.

Because the rockets lost!! I'm a Lin fan, but when the rockets lose, discussion tends to look at the reasons for the lost, not celebrating what one player did. Even though Jeremy had a good game, he could do better by working on lessening his turnovers.
