The excitement over this team dwindles more and more every game we play like garbage. There needs to be a change. Whether it's an Asik trade for a better player that can help us, or getting a new coach, something has to happen. This is one of the most disappointing teams in the league right now.
While the bad end of game plays were bad, what worries me far more is the minutes management. Even during the height of Linsanity, D'Antoni, a coach notorious for running his players high minutes *NEVER* played Lin more than 40 minutes during regulation. McHale ran him for 47/53 minutes. With only a 2 minute break during the 2nd quarter and 1:30s in the 4th quarter. That's crazy kinds of minutes. Is it a wonder he was *completely* gassed by midway of the 4th quarter? Aside from his lack of play execution, you're not going to get too far running your players that many minutes. Either they'll underperform, or they'll end up injured. Or both. As for Brett Brown, I fully expected him to outcoach McHale. Yes, he's a rookie Head Coach... who was Gregg Poppovich's main assistant coach for TWELVE (12) Years. You don't stay as Pop's assistant for 12 years unless you're *really* good at what you do. *sigh* ... hopefully McHale learns from this... hopefully.
What annoys me is that he literally never owns up to his own mistakes. It's always the players' fault.
He has Harden and Howard though, and he has Howard because he had Harden...and he got Harden because he had the pieces to get him. Not his fault the Warriors or Wizards or whoever else didn't see the value in Harden, because Morey did. I think most will agree about Hollins though.
His only real value this season would have been to coach Dwight. I don't see a significant enough change in Dwight's game to overcome all the coaching inefficiencies this season. Time to move on.
Pretty sad article. It's entirely too early to call this team a disappointment. We are 1/9th of the way through the season. The team will pull it together eventually.
But Coach McHale was a big reason why Dwight opted to come to the Rockets, I doubt he gets the boot anytime soon. Coach Hollins really would be ideal for this team though.
Mchale is a disappointment. But I would give him at least 30 more games to redeem himself before firing him.
Yes sir! Would McHale ever have the courage or audacity to do this? <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/CUjKVWPV_Cs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Lionel Hollins demands discipline and defense. If you don't give him the respect that he deserves, he's going to take it by force.
