The Pistons are just an odd team, there's talent there but it just doesn't seem to be working out even in the Least.

It's our rotations. Mchale needs a practice or 2 to tighten up our rotations. We have had maybe one practice to improve upon it

Problem is the offense is overrated because of the run and gun style of play which leads to turnovers and craptastic perimeter defense.

This offense will again get exposed in the playoffs with more half court sets and better defenses just like last year.

IMO a perimeter defender couldn't hurt but what you really need is a post prescence and a new coach.

We have Brewer as part of the rotation. He needs to be a guy who can come in and defend for at least 8 minutes. He may not be able to shot but with Parsons sitting he can get buckets slashing.

This side of our defense needs to improve, we can also use him at the 2 with Garcia, Jones and Dwight as a line-up with length.

Wasn't Brewer the same guy who was benched by Thibs the defensive minded coach for his lack of D and also didn't play great D when in NY. Brewer's D has really falling off over the last few years.

He lost playing time for the Knicks because he stopped hitting 3 pointers for some reason. His defense has been great, but his jump shot hinders offense a lot. Brewer on Chicago is a bad fit for a team that needs shooters

It's the growing pain, because they have to work with Howard this season.

Lin and Harden sharing the floor can take off each other pressure so more effort to play D.

Call me crazy but when its just Dwight out there (as opposed to Omer and Dwight out there) the half court offense looks pretty good. Either way we will get exposed in the playoffs whether its on D or O... That's why T-Jones is crucial, if he can fill that stretch 4 role than a perimeter defender seems like the clear way to go.

I agree alot of the problems are growing pains... Integrating a big man is one of the harder things to do in the NBA it takes alot of work!

Once Parsons starts hitting his 3s, all of you guys are gonna eat crow. He's doing all the little things and doing what he can considering that his shot's off right now. Shots come and go, it's how the player approaches the game, and Parsons plays like how I would draw up a big SF.
But a defensive SF is definitely intriguing. Either that or a defensive PF, like Jones. Maybe we should just develop Jones and use our next trade to acquire a solid defensive SF to just sic on players that are hot similar to what we can do with Bev.

FYI, Lin's defense is fine though today's not the right time to say it, lol. Bev's defense is good. Harden's defense will pick up once he takes less of the offensive load while he's on the court. That's why an improved Lin and Harden, I believe, actually complement each other REALLY well once Harden realises he can depend on Lin. It's up to Lin now to convince everyone that he's that guy. Sometimes trust is given to you. Sometimes you just gotta go out and get it. I believe Lin will be a solid plus defender by next year and I hope to see signs of it starting the second half of this season. His work ethic amongst those who've known him is said to be maniacal.

His D fell off last year and he has problems staying in shape. I watched him a ton last year in NY and also in chicago. His lack of shooting also really affects his confidence. He had confidence issues in CHI also.

It seems like people still don't understand that basketball is a team game.
If your reaction to poor perimeter defense is "trade for a perimeter defense specialist!", please stop posting for a day and just google basketball perimeter defense.

This is not the first time that a basketball team has come up against good perimeter shooters. Actually, it was just 1 good perimeter shooter, Anderson. A good coach at half time would call up some zone defense, make traps for Anderson and reiterate switching on screens. Also, how many times was Spencer Hawes going to shoot open 3-point shots, before McHale realizes that Dwight needs to be told to move up or trade with Jones?

If were were running good zone defense AND still getting beat, then I would contemplate getting more talent, but we're not even switching on picks! One guy is going 6-8 from down town and we don't even try to corner or double up on him?

All the knee jerk reaction posts of "just shut down your man on defense or you suck" are really juvenile. This isn't school yard basketball. There needs to be team work in the pro levels. Right now I see the coach failing to call the right plays and the players failing to execute the current play. McHale needs to get a basketball-for-dummies play book and discipline his players to actually following the plays.

It seems like Garcia can only defend one player in the NBA, and that's Durant, everybody else just torches him. And his 3-point shooting has been terrible this season. No offense, no defense off the bench.
