After reading so many posts about why we are the superior team than the suns, the suns pulled off a CLUTCH performance in San antonio. This may be old news, but I feel many a rocket fan, including myself got silenced after that game. Is there any more debate that Marbury is a superior player than our Steve? Maybe Steve will bring his game up to Marbury's level with an extra year of experience under his belt, and maybe the rockets will give Yao as many shot attempts as the suns have been giving Amare.
yes, they had a good game today. But who knows whether or not the Rox would have done the same? As for Marbury, at this time last year he and phoenix were a laughingstock for getting rid of Kidd for him. And you know what? if the Rox had one one more game this year, they still would be. The only difference between the Suns and Rockets this year is that the Suns had one or two less nights of mediocrity.
Steve has hit game winning threes before, or threes to take it into overtime. And if you look at Marbury's numbers from last night 26points on 9-28 shooting and 6 assists in 53 minutes, I'm fairly sure Steve would get ripped for taking that many shots while only shooting 32% and only getting 6 assists in an overtime game.
Since when is a "clutch performance" banking in 3-point shots to force overtime and then to win the game. Talk about your luck... Overall, though, the Suns played well, but it goes without saying that they were lucky to win.
Thats the general concensus going around here amung rocket fans. Is that "only 1 more game". Guess what, wrong. Amare didnt play much like ming in the first month. The suns would have won alot more games if amare started the season instead of behind gugliotta.Plus pennywas hurt most of the season while the rockets were healthy. Plus, big zake was hurt to. Face it,if both teams could start over, the suns would likely end up 10 + games ahead of rox.
ming and amare both did jack their first month. And amare and yao both sat for like the first 10 games of the season. OMG if yao woulda started, we woulda been 10 games infront of the SUNS! get real. enough monday morning quarterback.
Yep, although I dont think the Spurs are really that much better than the Suns, the Suns had to rely on two lucky banked shots and two horrible games by the spurs' best players. But it was AWESOME hearing the Spurs fans shut up after marbury hit that three.
Guess what, right. Suns 44-38 Rockets 43-39 That's not general consensus, buddy, that's fact. As for your ifs and buts silliness, big deal, JASON COLLIER was ahead of Ming on the depth chart for about the first 10 games. But the gap between the Suns and Rockets is huge because if, we were to be transported to magical do-over land, they would be 10 games ahead? Sure they would. And I would be 7 foot 6 and chinese too in this alternate universe. So if this is true, why were the Rockets a steve francis jumper at the buzzer away from SWEEPING the Suns? My god, go ahead and blow the Suns up to be the 1983 Sixers or the 96 Bulls, last time I checked, they were the 8th seed in the playoffs and 16 games out of first place.
First of all, I don't like the Suns and I'm mad as hell that they take our 8th spot to the playoff. I also realized now that Suns is lot better than we give them credit for. Although we won the season series, I think they're the better team right now than the Rox because they play like a team. With 2 go to guys and bunch of role players, everyone is on the same page. They want to win badly, they have the desire to pull themselves together during the stretch run and eventually take over the 8th spot, mean while, the Rox play like they don't care that eventually lead to a early summer vacation. Marbury is playing with so much confidence is hard to see any spur players can do anything to stop him. Yeah, they're luck to win the 1st game, but don't be surprise if they get out of 1st round or force a game 7.
Wait a second, aren't the Spurs the best team in the league.... and they're not much better than the 8th playoff seed in the West?? I guess it comes down to one's definition of 'much' - I take it yours is very expansive!!!!!!
Yes, this was talked about before. But the game is not a surprise. One factor is that the Suns are playing free and loose because their is no pressure on them; something that the Rockets could be enjoying if they were the 8th seed. And the second factor is regarding what you talk about. That Marbury is one notch above Francis in terms of making his teammates better. There was an article about Marbury in which he rededicated himself in the off-season because everyone was saying that New Jersey got the better end of the trade than the Phoenix. He worked hard to change that perception. So, what you say doesn't surprise me. One other note. The Suns and Mavs have the killer instinct. They never give up. The Rockets have yet to learn that.
Troy. You don't make sense in your statement. You "don't think the Spurs are really that much better than the Suns..." But then you say that the Suns made "lucky shots." Not sure what point you were trying to make. Please don't judge the Spurs on the 1st game. Let the series develop.
I men Matrix & Starbury as two go to guys. Amare is not as important to the Suns right now as the other two. Amare is no where as value as Mobley though. Even though I think Cat should be coming off bench to sub SF and we need a real PG to run the show.
rvPals, Cuttino is not a REAL point guard. He takes it to the hoop almost any time he has the ball. He's like a small forward in a shooting guard's body...
