Steve should and will still be our leading scorer for a long time. Im not saying yao should be out of the picture. I think it should be francis with 25 a game and yao with 20. Ofcourse to achieve these numbers you need to get rid of all the players on the ROX that need the ball to help the team. In other words this team has 1 role player, and that is Posey. Mobley is the main guy to get out. For the better of Mobley he should be on another team. In another team Mobley could be the main guy, but not here, not with Francis and Yao on this team. This team has to be shaped like the Lakers. 2 main guys, not 12 guys all wanting to score. Francis then could move to the 2, and then he would be known as a great, since he would be scoring 30 a game. His talent allows that. The ROX orginization is horrible at getting the best out of their talent.
id liek to see yao and francis gettin 20 and francis gettin 10 assist if steve can do that plus his 7 boards a game he will get MVP
The Lakers have ONE MAIN MAN-- SHAQ!! There is no question about it! Kobe is another great player but he is not the man,he is just another great player who plays on the same Team! Francis has been leading the Team for FOUR years and nothing has happened. His leadership is drawing to a close in the near future, mark my word on it. If he stays with the Rockets he will be one of the main scoring options, he wont prevent the development of Yao Ming.
Kobe waived off Shaq in order to take a retaliatory dunk on T- Mac. Kobe wants the ball in his hands at the end of the game and its mostly him that takes control the shots late. I guarantee you Kobe belives that he himself is "the man". Our problem isn't Francis thinks he's the man, its that Francis lost the belief that he is "the man" before Yao become one.
Isaih Thomas is the last all star/first team nba pg to win a title.,that was 14 yrs ago. Chances are , your chances are, you'de be better off with a big man being the man.
Yeah, out of the 8 West playoffs teams this season, only 1 build their team around a guard (the No. 8 seed Phoenix Suns with Marbury). You cannot get away here without a big man in this era of big-men-heavy Western Conf.
There is an old expression, "the proof is in the pudding." Well, Francis and the Rockets have been stirring for four years, still no pudding! Being assigned the name "Franchise" is one thing, proving it is another.
Francis is the main man, he just doesn't always act like it. He and Yao are the 2 options on this team, not others. SF had a great first half of the season. Remember when loudmouth Marbury yelled that he's the REAL all-star? I scoffed like every Rox fan. The prob is Marbury turned it on while SF faded. I understand that he's trying to get Yao involved which is good cuz you can trust Yao to make the right decision with the rock (except sometimes pass too much, UGGGHHHH). But is there any reason that Steve takes 12 shots a game while EG/Rice/JP/others takes like 15? All of them had like 1 lucky game out of 50 but doesn't stop shooting. SF, as co-leader of this team, should of stepped in and said "stop shooting and give me the rock." Sometimes, Yao has a bad game to, SF should take over (or vice versa). That's how it's supposed to be. I think the prob with Steve is not his skill or that he doesn't want to play a team game. His prob is that he still doesn't know his role yet and that's gotta change soon.
Amen to that. I never understood where this preconceived notion of needing a top-flight PG came from. We won two rings with Kenny Smith as our starting PG.
You need great players, at least one and preferrably two, to win NBA titles. It doesn't matter where they play--but you need them. The problem with Francis is has trouble helping the team when his offense is off. That is the difference between a star, and a superstar, and I see no inclination that Steve is getting better at helping his teammates be better when his own game is off. Yao has the best potential to consistently help his teammates be better--thus I think he should be the center of the team in more ways than one. Francis can be tremendous 2nd option--but that is the best role for him IMO.
