that's the thing though.. his style of D is prone to fouls, and if he lets up and play more conservatively, then there would be no reason to start him.

he once asked mchale if mchale wants him to let up a bit or stay aggressive. mchale told him if he ever let up he'd be back on the bench.

i think mchale is willing to gamble with his aggressiveness and see how far he's able to push the envelope game to game.

Lin coming off the bench is a good idea. As a starter, he has to worry about distributing and fitting in with Harden. coming off the bench, in a 6th man role, he doesn't have to worry about any of that. He can just score...which is what he always was the best at since high school through college.

Even if he is on the floor at the same time with Harden, he still can be himself without drawing the ire of Harden under the pretext that he's the 6th man and his role is to provide a spark...hence his 31 pts and 0 assists last night. if anyone on the team ***coughcoughHardencoughcough*** for not passing him the ball, Lin can just be like "hey, just doing my job." :D

i like jeremy but somebody has to just deck him in the face before every game to get him going. this trend goes way back to last year...

after he bloodied his nose i think it was in 3 quarter, i remember thinking to myself "toronto has no idea what's coming", and lo and behold...

I don't even know why I stepped into this thread, but can we stop saying Lin plays like Ginobili, just because he's 6th man? Lin has a little bit of Ginobili in him, but he mostly plays like Parker. Even Parker thinks so.

    http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...similarites-with-lin-at-same-stage-of-career/

Harden's game is Ginobili right down to eurostep and sneaky lefty attack.

If anybody, Bev plays like a faster smaller Bowen with handles and driving ability. Are we watching the same games?

Starter or bench player, please let him play his style of basketball and give him the ball. He's a pg, let him play pg. Harden playing pg can come to no good. Why force a pg to play sg and a sg to play pg? It's ludicrous. Our efficiency will skyrocket if Jeremy had the ball more as a pg.

And for those of you who have not seen Jeremy used differently as in high school, college, or in NY. Lin is most definitely a pg first and not a sg or a shooting pg. His game naturally leads to ball movement. You guys are only judging Lin based on the filter of how McHale wants him to play but I'm telling you, Linsanity was not a fluke. It's clear as day that his game leads to ball movement and that he dictates tempo naturally. That is a sign of a great floor general and that is how Mchale should use him. I can't stress that enough.

I know Lin has r****ded turnovers at times that is most definitely cringe-worthy. I know he jumps in the air at times or takes it in recklessly. I know his jumper is not fully developed and that it is most probable that he'll go through slumps bringing him down to earth, to a degree. I know that sometimes he gets stuck on screens almost as if he were doing it on purpose, lol. And I also know what Bev brings and how good Bev is. His hustle, his attitude, rebounding, defense, etc. But, Lin can be a potent 3rd star on the team if he continues his progress whereas Beverley probably will never be a 3rd option type of player considering his limited offensive skill set (so far). So, why not develop the possible potent 3rd option type of player?? The only answer is McHale doesn't believe that Lin could be that guy and that is hindering both Lin's game and the Rocket's potential. Whether you believe Lin is capable of being that guy or not, the kid has earned the right to have the ball more with his play thus far. It's so obvious that after Harden and Howard, Lin demands the most attention and needs to be game planned for in order for other teams to succeed against us. How could other teams see Lin's impact more than our own coaches and fans? Free Jeremy for the sake of the Rockets. I swear to God if Lin is hurting our team, I would not want him to play. Never. I'm a basketball purist by nature and I would never let fandom override my basketball senses and it is my basketball sense that compels me to root for him to have the ball more. His game play resonates with me (minus the r****ded turnovers and still lacking pnr defense).

    Lin
    FG 54.5 + 3% 45.5 + FT% 77.8

    177.8

if Lin makes FT better, he will be qualified as elite shooter.

I still remember someone said if Beverley got his opportunity, he can produce "Beverly-sanity" like Lin did in NY and Lin is just lucky.

After Lin breakout even off the bench, do you still think Beverley can do this?

His shooting percentage will likely come down. It's almost impossible for a guard to have that high of a shooting percentage over the course of an entire season. Even if he leveled off in the high 40's that would be fantastic for a PG. His greatest asset right now is that he is still getting better and no where near his ceiling.

I find it amusing that that LOH who passed themselves off as objective Rockets fans are noticeably silent on these boards lately.

Most of them were probably Knick fans. The New York media spun the Lin situation in a very negative light.

From a fan's perspective, I like the Rockets last season compared to this season. The only reason was that everyone played unselfish and that was exciting to watch. I know it is only 8 games into the season but I wish Mchale stop with this starting lineup experimentation and go back to the lineup that worked last year. For instance, I would like to see Greg Smith in the games more. Some of you feel that Lin should be a 6th man and I don't disagree with you. But I feel like it is better for him to start and facilitate. In fact since he is a decent three point shooter, teams will think twice about trapping Harden every time he has the ball. Another thing I want to note, whether Howard likes it or not Mchale needs to make him play pick and rolls more with anyone handling the ball. Then again, what do I know. I'm just a guy who loves basketball and playing pickup games time to time.

    It will be hard.

Guards that shoot 47%-50%, CP3, Tony Parker, Wade and Nash. All these guys are elite guards.

If Lin can shoot 47%~ that would be not bad.
