Based on his own talk with reporters, he does not think he can improve his techniques that much next season. His reasoning: you do not improve techniques that much during the games. The best time you can improve your techniques is during the summer. (But since he has to play games during the summer, so ...)
If you keep repeating it, it just might come true--but probably not. You need a hobby, a different hobby.
Sun:- Wrong! He said that he didnt think that he had improved his Technique during his first Rockets season. This also indicates that he didnt get any technical help from Rockets Coaching or could be a call for help in that direction (Moses Malone).
Your season long tirade that the Rockets staff have done nothing to help Yao's game or to teach him new things is so old and tiresome.
Nothing new. A short article about how Cat yelled at him at the game with Grazzlies. Ming just said the best time to improve skills is the summer.
sun12, You have problem in reading and apprehesion. What's Yao said is that he hasn't improved much techinically in this season and mostlikely will not in the next season also, but he does expect to improve himself in this summer. In deed, he will only play several games in two weeks and he has plenty of time in traing other than relaxing himself.
I don't agree. I think Sun12 understood the article correctly. OK, Yao said the best time to improve skills is the summer. But where will Yao be in the coming summer? In China right? He will stay there until the end of September. That's the whole summer. So, do you mean yao will improve his skills in China? I don't think so, and I don't believe his Chinese coaches can teach him any more new stuff. What yao need in this summer is : (1). have a good rest; (2). take the NBA summer camp to bulk up himself, and improve his skill. He should not train in his China NT.
Terra, Geeze, Terra, I don't know Yao-only fan could be this stubborn. Yao said he won't improve much next YEAR, not next SEASON. Do you know the difference between YEAR and SEASON? If he thinks he can improve this summer, why did he say that he won't improve next YEAR? I am frustrated by RANDOM Yao-only fans on this board. Most of them have no idea about basketball training. Seriously, if a couple of competition games in two weeks are not a problem, why so many NBA players do not want to play for the US NT?
Sun12 Eventhough, you wish Yao to not improve next season. The next season has not come yet. It is only 6 more months then we will see by ourself if he is improving or not. You have repeated this prediction over and over. I think everyone has remembered it. So you do not need to worry. If Yao has not improved next season, we will remember that you had predicted it. May be people will give you a credit you want. However, if you are a rocket fan, you should wish Yao to get better because he will not be traded during his rookie contracts, as I understand. That's means 3 more years of seeing him in the rocket uniform. Liking him or not, he is the rocket's current best center and the team must find the way to improve and use him.
1) Yao once said he needn't summer camp training anymore. 2) Yao was greatly improved every summer in China before, why not in this summer?
yao will also be playing in the Asian tournament to qualify for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. hopefully somebody in the chinese junior national team will become better than yao and replace him cause that's about the only way for him to get a rest probably.
Dear Sun12, Can you read Chinese? "Next year" exactly means "next season" here. He was talked about improving skills in competition and he also excluded summer from "next year". By the way, I am not a Yao-only fan. I am actually a Lakers fan and happen to be able to know some simple Chinese.
I certainly hope Yao could become the most dominant in the NBA. But I am worried with his dual-career track and work overload, he could be just a so-so player. With Amare playing in the playoff, training himself hard during the summer time, I am afraid Amare would be much superior to Yao while Yao progresses very little next season. With the training under the Chinese NT, I am also afraid Yao will RELEARN his old bad habits and regress. He is 22 years old now and he can not afford more lost time. Do you think Yao would progress more playing with weaker opponent or playing with much tougher opponent? If you are a student, will you learn more or get better training in Harvard/Yale or in University of Houston?
This is the funniest statement I have even seen on this board. First, this is a Lakers' fan speaking Second, how can someone KNOWING SOME simple Chinese claim that he understand simple Chinese better than others?
Yao said, word for word: "Technically, I don't think I have improved much. It's more about getting a feel. Next year? There probably won't be much improvement either, as it's not practical/realistic to improve in games. The best time to do it is in summer."
SUN 12 Do you call the China NT and Asia team a weaker opponent? shut up you mouth. How much do you know about Asia player? Do you realy know what Yao's mean. Can you speak chinese language? If you do not realy know, just keep quiet.
