The two versions look nearly identical. Viewing the Xbox One release next to the PS4 , I had difficulty telling them apart. It's possible that the PS4 version looked somewhat sharper, but that may have just been my imagination after confirming the hard resolution difference. The next-gen releases of Call of Duty: Ghosts are so close together that gun to my head, I'd have no confidence in being able to discern which version was which — at least, while the two are standing still.
The Xbox One release's framerate was far more noticeable. As mentioned in the initial review, Call of Duty: Ghosts suffers from consistent framerate drops on the PS4, especially during multiplayer when action got especially hectic. The Xbox One version suffered no such drops, maintaining a steady 60 frames per second throughout.
For a multiplayer shooter, framerate consistency is paramount. Given its relative visual parity with the PS4 release, Call of Duty: Ghosts is a more playable, slightly superior (albeit disappointing) game on Xbox One.

I realized why I am so excited about the XB1, it's the exact same tech they show in Back to the Future! Now I'm totally stoked!

So, honest question, even though it might come off the wrong way...ign is also saying that COD ghosts runs better on the xbox...are we headed down the same path where multi-platforms show up better on the xbox? With all this talk about the ps4 being far superior, I didn't expect this to be the result. Any insight? Was this a fluke or something we'll be seeing more often?

I think it's more of a fluke. What is interesting is how they said the 720p and 1080p were nearly identical. I think when gaming, especially on a large tv in your living room, a certain distance away, it won't make a difference at all.

I think for occasional gamers like myself it is the better choice especially with all the entertainment and multitasking features.

Don't trust any reviews from polygon. Quick google search shows that they are receiving money from M$. Biased as they come.

This is the same website that game The Last of Us a 7.5/10 .. :p

Can't be biased if IGN is saying the same thing.

As a old ass console buyer,42 yrs old, I really like the new xbox. I have the 360s with kinect and its great as a piece of entertainment for my family. Ive had every console since 81 starting with Intellivision up until now. I never purchase them when they 1st come out to allow the glitches to be worked out. Once I feel this is done, I will get one. Thing is, once u turn on the xbox, you can literally do everything on it. I can go to internet explorer and surf the net, netflix and other apps for movies, and watch nba games that I missed earlier. I think its awesome personally.

Something odd is going on with the CoD reviews. It appears that, at least the comparison vids/pics, are 720p for both XBO and PS4 (from multiple outlets). Whether this means IW lied and the PS4 version is not 1080, these captures were done at 720p (and yet these various outlets failed to mention that), the display settings for these setups were incorrect at the review event (forcing PS4 to be 720p), etc., I'm not sure. Guess it would make sense if reviewers saw nothing noticeable in the resolution difference since there might not have been one!

Kind of amazed none of the reviewers seemed to notice this....though their opinions are over the place with CoD, so guess I shouldn't be too surprised.

You seem to have the most unbiased opinions. For a casual gamer, which system would you recommend? Sorry if you have already answered this question.

I'm so torn. I like that the Xbox 1 is more wife and kid friendly and the multimedia options seem great but I also want a real next gen console. Graphics are important so I keep going back and forth on this life-changing decision LOL. I even talked myself into getting both but that seems rather wasteful.

For a casual gamer, not sure I'd really recommend either at this point. They're pretty cool devices, but there will be a LOT of features not supported on day 1 (and the features there will likely be buggy). Launch games look nice, but far from what next-gen will really offer. Maybe wait 9-12 months at least, and let some things play out. You'll have more info to help with the decision then, plus possible price cuts either in place or on the horizon.

If you have cable and really like the TV integration stuff (and don't mind subscribing to XBL to access some of those media features), then I think the XBO should be great for you. It is looking like a great box to "rule" the living room. Especially like the fitness stuff it has.

If you don't think you'll actually be using that (or may only use it sporadically), then maybe lean towards PS4 for likely better gaming in general, though even that can go either way depending on what games you like. Even if you're just a casual gamer, if Halo or Gran Turismo is a must have for you, the decision on which system to buy should be pretty clear.

Sorry for the double post, but if anyone wants to follow this:

It is all pretty "nerdy" (we're talking about counting pixels here) and not a huge deal, but does seem interesting to me.

One of the "pixel counters" seems to think that PS4 SP is 720p (with solid framerate), but MP is 1080p (with unstable framerate). And IGN's comparison video is 1080i.

(sorry for going someone off-topic BTW)

Thanks, man. The idea I've been leaning towards is to let the dust settle and then decide. I used to be a Halo junkie, which is another reason why I keep going back n forth. Fitness stuff isn't important bc I go the gym. Switching to sat/cable seems convenient and the NFL/FF stuff is cool, but I still want the best gaming console at the end of the day. If there is a material/substantial difference in graphics.. I want the better system, which appears to be the PS4 on paper.

Best gaming console is a subjective thing, so it is difficult to recommend without defining exactly what that means (which console was the "best gaming console" this last generation?). It is clear that Sony seems more focused on gaming, and for many (myself included), the things they offer are much more appealing from a strictly gaming standpoint (e.g., remote play, free/cheaper games, indie game support, cheaper system, etc.). But those things might not matter as much to you, while other things might be more important.

I'm completely confused as to which one I should get. The PS4 sounds more powerful, but I think XBone has a really nice online set up which I'm use to.

One thing I need to consider is that being in Australia, with geoblocking of certain content go protect lazy media companies from getting under cut over here, a lot of the cool media features just won't be worth getting the XBone for.

I'm thinking I might have to just wait a while and see how things pan out between the two systems. Make a decision when both out out in the wild and people are working out which one works better for games and media. I don't trust reviewers on gaming sites at all.

What is everyone picking up this week?

I know for sure FIFA, Madden, and COD:Ghosts because I have the coupon to get them for $10 a piece since I bought them on 360. Does anyone know if there is a similar deal with NBA 2k14? If not I will be getting that too..I am pretty sure I am getting Ryse and Battlefield 4, also thinking about picking up Dead Rising 3.

Im picking up my XBone at the Microsoft store in the Galleria...have no idea what game(s) Im getting.

Probably going to sell back my 360 and PS3 to Gamestop and pick up some games there with the credit I get.

Im thinking Forza and BF4...but I keep changing it up, sometimes going with NBA, COD, or Ryse as well. Really have no idea yet, going to wait for some of these reviews to pop up.
