Speaking of football, are we just going to ignore Bev's excellent goal-line defense? Outjumped the WR Conley and came down with the ball and both feet in-bounds. That rebound in the second OT was huge and a demonstration of the determination and hustle Beverley brings every night, even when his 3 isn't falling.

Couple admin notes related to this thread:

DangerMouse is banned from the Rockets forum. clubberclyde is just banned. And for those who report posts -- thank you, but please realize we're not going to always get to problem posts immediately (especially during games). I could do without commentary like, "Does anyone get banned around here?" or "I guess ClutchFans welcomes racist comments." It just adds to the ignorance.

    Thanks.

    Hi, Mr. Clutch,

Could you share us with the posts that cause DangerMouse get banned from the Rockets forum? Maybe this will help others in terms of what not to post?

    Thanks

Just use common sense. If you think it's offensive and over the line don't do it. If you wouldn't say it in person to someone or a group then don't post it here just because your hidden behind a computer screen.

Nothing wrong to get mad or argue with other posters, when it becomes personal, racial, or just plain stupid then watch out for the ban hammer.

Those idiots should be banned too.

Clutch is a Rockets fan, too. He likes to watch Rockets games, how is not common sense that he's at least going to wait until the games over to take a look at these reports?

The small sample size is an issue here. Just as an example you may want to have a look at Danny Greens (SA), a notorious 3pt shooter, shooting this season. He shot 30% in the first 6 games (6-20) and 69% in the two last games (11-16). His season stats, therefore, stand at 47.2% today.

Because shooters shoot so few 3pt shots, it is very difficult to draw conclusions on 3-4 consecutive games.

Completely true. And it is only 8 games (and the preseason as well), so the sample is small as I noted.

On the other hand, he shot close to 40% from the 3 point line starting from the ASB onward last year, so in total we're talking about 50ish games.

It's hard to say whether Lin has improved substantially in terms of the 3pt shooting off the first 8 games, though given he's specifically stated that he was working very hard on his 3 point shot, his left hand and defense, I wouldn't be surprised if his 3 point shooting has also improved, though I doubt it will be 45%.

Still, I don't think a sustained 40-43% is out of the ballpark.

I wouldn't say that 5-6 TOs a game is acceptable, I'd really like to see that drop to 3-4, even when he's being aggressive.

Anyone know if harden talked about foot issues last night? The guy just looks pooped out there. It might just be confirmation bias but his lateral quickness is just not there this year. I think we gotta sit him if its an issue while we got an easier stretch early in the season.

Do guys typically play through foot bruises?

Nah, AggNRox, didn't mean to contradict you in any way. I agree you can't compare a defensive player directly against an offensive one, just like you wouldn't compare the stats of a center and a PG.

Just taking advantage of your football comment to compare Beverley to a football player. Guy reminds me more of Ronnie Lott than any other basketball player - total commitment to defense.

    no problem. everything is clear.

bev is very energetic. specially he puts pressure on ball handler. he chases the ball more than he chases his man. it's reason he always showed around the ball, getting rb.

    DWIGHT HOWARD

(On Toronto’s run in the second half) “Their zone (defense) kind of slowed us up. We have to find a way to play at the zone. Teams are going to start to try to capitalize on that. It threw all of us off. It took us out of rhythm. They (Raptors) were able to get out and run and they made it a tough game. Rudy Gay hit some big shots, Kyle Lowry hit some big shots, and they just stuck with their game plan and came back. We have to put four quarters together. That is our next step. We will play good for two quarters but it stops there. We have to get better at that.”

(On whether or not tonight’s win was about perseverance) “We just have to stick with it. Second half we didn’t play as good as we wanted to, but we got a good win. We needed on especially at home, and I’m glad we got it.”

    Just watched the game.

Much better game tonight. Even if they had lost, I wouldn't have been too upset because it was good effort from everyone. Nice to see TJ get big minutes. Congrats to Jeremy and Dwight on the monster games.
