The correct answer imo is whoever is open. However, Harden had three guys open and he shot an airball over three people. That tells me that maybe Harden shouldn't be the guy with the ball in his hands for the last play. Someone else should have it and if they see Harden has a chance to score they should give it to him.

The system allowed him to do that? Did the other teams allow him to do what he wanted to them too? So convenient that the stars aligned for this mediocre point guard who didn't get to play with high-caliber teammates or competition in college or get any substantial playing time in the NBA to somehow play at a level only Hall of Fame players play at huh. 5 games is too small a sample size to base a career off of, yet 1 game against Miami is enough to prove that he's not that good huh? At least I have TS% to support my point; you have nothing but air behind your claims.

This. Harden is so unclutch it's not funny.

I see that 38pt game must be his best game ever. If you could read more than just one post, that has been addressed already. I never said lin sucked or is trash or doesn't have any skill. So learn to read. And anyone who disagrees with me will be labeled a troll because that's what we do here.

If Harden passes the ball when there is an open man I don't have a problem with him closing games out. It's insane when he think he can make a high % play when he is double or even triple teamed and still tries to shoot.

I'd rather have Harden take the last shot since it's usually difficult.

But more importantly I'd rather run plays and not ISOs for the last shot, which would usually result in someone else taking the shot anyway.

Whoever's hot can be the "closer" for all I care.

It should be whoever can score. This is a stupid vote, on purpose to make trouble?!

I find that people are answering "Whoever has the hot hand" very telling. You have 2 supposed super stars on your team and you want to go with the hot hand? If that's the case, they aren't super stars.

If it were me and I'd just spent a butt load of money on someone, I'd expect them to take and make those shots. So in a sense, I think Harden - even with 2 bad feet, should be the one taking the last shot. That's why you're paying the guy right? To be the man. Now whether or not he's capable of doing it is another story.

Harden and it's not even close. Now if he gets doubled he should pass out but otherwise the ball should always be in his hands if the game is on the line

    This suggestion sounds about right.

Whichever one isn't getting double teamed should be the one taking the shot. No more hero ball, these two guys need to get each other involved and take what the defense gives them.

Agreed. You win and die with your superstars. That being said, I think the ball should be in Harden's hands and he can make the decision of who should take the last shot.

You mean until Harden's feet are healed of course. Right ?

Please study reality a little more. Lin is doing a great job as 6th man. His role.

No, but we should run something more advanced than a basic ISO. Maybe throw a pick in there somewhere. But straight ISO just seems the easiest to defend. But of course, guys like Harden get paid to put the team on their shoulders and win the game.

Yet another vote ruined by lof's. Ask this in any other basketball/sports forums and Harden wins every time.

harden should get last shot just with a play drawn up. JUST NO ISO...Lin should be 2nd option but if he has the hot that night you go with him as 1st option.

They ruin everything. The sad thing is Lin is off to a great start and it can't be talked about rationally because of their ridiculous delusions

Pops and Doc Rivers would disagree (I hear they're decent coaches).

They often draw up plays that use their Superstars as decoys, or are designed for the Superstar to outlet if they are being contested.

A Superstar is paid to impact the entire game, and that impact can be just as large when they're used to draw off defenders or break down the defense so that other players on the team can get high percentage shots.

Late in games, you'll see them have 2nd and 3rd offensive options take that shot, other times they'll have specialized role players take the shot, and other times still they'll design the play around role players to cut to the basket or shoot a jump shot that nobody is watching since a wide open shot does wonders to improve one's shooting.

That doesn't mean anyone should be shooting that last shot, but it does mean that sometimes it's best to design those clutch plays so that your best shooters take that shot, which may or may not be the Superstar on any given team, on any given night.
